Inflamation: Tiny disc protrusions do not often cause neck and shoulder pain. Inflamation of nerves and or muscles may be the culprit. Over use, misuse , posture, even sleeping position are common causes. Ice, nsaids such as alleve can be helpful. Address any postural stresses . Exercise, manual tx can help too.
