Yes: It is better to be to tight than too loose and need surgery to stabilize. Unless you have severely restricted motion, then you have developed a frozen shoulder and need to be evaluated before you start pt. I have hyper mobility and am able to sub lux my shoulders at will. The last 2 years my left shoulder wakes me in pain at night when I am lying on it.
Several things: It could be a rotator cuff issue, a tendonitis (inflammation of the tendon), bursitis (inflammation of bursa between the tendons), or something called frozen shoulder which is a painful condition where the shoulder literally feels frozen.
