Should You Have Sex After Having A Colposcopy Test Biopsy
Biopsy is tissue removed by needle or cutting to remove part of a body part. It is usually a small amount of material that is processed by a pathologist. Most of the time it is stained and looked at through a microscope to arrive at a diagnosis. Special processes are done for some tissues or problems. The purpose is to tell what the problem is (diagnosis). ...Read more

Should be ok now: There are small sore spots on your cervix from the biopsies that should have healed by now. It's unlikely that you will re-open the sores and cause bleeding. Unfortunately, you may have some yucky discharge from the chemical we use on the biopsy spots, but that's about it. Even if you do have some light bleeding or spotting, it's not dangerous, just wait another week before trying again. ...Read more

I had a colposcopy yesterday and biopsies taken, I wasn't informed to not have sexual intercourse and did this evening and had a lot of bleeding ?
Sex after colpo: First off. After colpo with bio nothing should go into your vagina for at least 7 days. Given that you were not told what you likely experienced was old blood from the biopsies and possibly minor bleeding as a result of penile penetration. Did you use a condom? I would nor be too worried if you don't continue to bleed. Probably best to contact the doctor regardless. Good luck ...Read more

Not designed for sex: There are billions of bacteria coming down into the anal-rectal area all day long... such as E. coli, Klebsiella, and all sorts of other species. Scientists say there are more bacteria in the intestinal tract than there are human cells in our entire body (we are outnumbered). To stay safe, an anus should be reserved for the activity it was designed for, just pooping. ...Read more

Can you tell me what the significance is of spindle cells being found in a cervical smear test? I have had colposcopy and biopsy, awaiting results.
If the final interpretation is negative for malignant cells, you are ok!
as highlighted in one of the replies 'spindle' cells just reflect the shape of cells, which may be benign or malignant (and may be epithelial or stromal from deeper tissue). If malignant, usually it is keratinizing squamous cell carcinoma with 'fiber' cells. Other malignant causes are very rare (e.g. Sarcomas, melanoma, mmt ). ...Read more

I had a total thyroidectomy in january. Recently my pap test came back with agus cells, so i had a colposcopy & biopsy. Is pregnancy still possible?
Yes indeed: Congratulations on your focus both on getting good health care and your desire to become a mother. The biopsy results will determine whether there's anything in the endocervix that needs to be treated -- chances of a lesion requiring hysterectomy producing only "agus" are low. Be sure to maintain your thyroid medication through your pregnancy. ...Read more
