Should You Have Any Testicle Shrinkage After Hernia Surgery
There are a variety or several types of hernias, and many are repaired differently. A hernia is a weakness in the abdominal wall (such as inguinal, umbilical, incisional) or diaphragm (hiatal hernia). Surgery to repair the hernia can involve use of sutures, and possible use of mesh. Open or laparoscopic surgery can be a means to repair hernias, with laparoscopic ...Read more
It's been 7 days now after my open hernia surgery, and my right testicle is very swell like double it size, is this normal?
No it is not normal: Some swelling at surgical site and some bruising in scrotum is to be expected. Testicular swelling might mean interruption of blood supply to it. Notify your surgeon immediately.See 1 more doctor answer

Just had hernia surgery - 6 weeks ago. But lately, I've been feeling a little soreness in my right testicle.
Post op swelling: This may be part of normal post op recovery after hernia surgery, of course if its on the same side as the surgery. If your surgeon manipulated the cord and placed mesh some discomfort may be ok at 6 weeks. However if you have significant swelling, worsening pain or persistent bruising you should go to surgeon to be examined.See 2 more doctor answers
My boyfriend had open hernia surgery and they put a mesh in he still gets pain in his testicles and where the mesh is. Is this normal?
Yes: Usually the pain gets better with time. If it does not then it may indicate nerve damage. If the pain is persistent then he needs to see a pain md. Local injections may help.
My testicles have become slightly smaller after my hernia surgery, what could be the reason, never had swelling after surgery, no pain either no mesh?
Likely had hydrocele: Small hydroceles surrounding testes could have made you feel testes were larger than they were before. Ur now feeling true size of testes. Unlikely 2b testicular atrophy as they have only become slightly smaller ; presumably are both similar is size. So u can stop worrying.
Ger checked: You require an examination by your surgeon to ensure that your hernias have not returned. Recurrence rates are about 1-5%See 1 more doctor answer
What to do with 840 mililiters blood in abdomen after hernia surgery had hernia repair surgery on testicle was in bad pain 2 weeks later dr said blood floating around in abdomen
Many: Many times the blood you are talking about is bodily fluids tinged with blood. Sometimes you don't even have to drain that fluid. I'm assuming they did because you have an exact measure of 840 milliliters... Either way many times a collection of bodily fluids or even frank blood as long as the bleeding stopped is left alone for your body to deal with.See 1 more doctor answer
Sounds normal: One testicle almost always hangs lower than the other; this is normal in all men. (Most commonly the left is lower, but it can go either way.) I'm guessing it's always been that way for you and you're now just looking more closely. Hernia surgery is not likely to make much difference -- but even if it does, it's not a health concern.
Inguinal hernia surgery 3 mths ago. Left testicle is still enlarged. Is this normal? What could it be?
Open inguinal hernia surgery 7 days ago. Heard a pop in night. Right testicle swelled up a lot. Did I tear it?
Here are some...: It is unlikely to tear the repair within 7 days because postoperative pain would naturally self restrict possible undue strenuous physical activity. To figure out what might happen, one needs more info on the specifics, relevance, & sequence of events of all symptoms + physical exam + imaging test (though rarely needed). How? After open inguinal hernia surgery 3 weeks ago on the left side, my left testicle doesn't raise up anymore. It was normal before, worried.
Cremaster Muscle: The vas and blood vessels to the testicle are covered by a muscle layer that has to be divided when performing an open inguinal hernia repair, called the cremaster muscle. Depending how extensive the dissection, your testicle may not raise up any more. While I can understand your concern, this should have no major effect on your testicle function. Please discuss with your surgeon.See 1 more doctor answer
Fluid around left testicle. After inguinal hernia surgery. It only 4 days since surgery. Is this normal? Is it serious? And will it go away on it own?
Fluid hernia surgery: Discuss with your surgeon. Would think it is normal.
I did Inguinal hernia surgery 2 days ago and my right testicle pains me and is a bit larger than the left. Also my hernia was also on the right side;?
Probably normal: Swelling in the groin, the testicle, and scrotum after inguinal hernia repair is very common and should get better day by day. Try elevation and ice/heat. If the pain is persistent and/or severe or if the swelling doesn't get better there is a small chance of damage to the spermatic cord. You should see your surgeon and monitor closely.
A hernia is a hole in the abdominal wall through which the lining of the abdominal cavity protrudes, creating a sac. Hernias are common in the groin, belly button, upper-midline, or associated w/scars. The exact method of repair varies w/the type & size of the hernia as well as patient-factors, however, the basic principle is the same: close the hole, often ...Read more
