Does deviated septum surgery change the appearance of your nose?

Does deviated septum surgery change the appearance of your nose?

Will my nose look different after having deviated septum surgery?

Usually not.: Unless you specifically request (and pay for) cosmetic changes to your nose, deviated septum surgery corrects the internal deformity of your septum. Severe septal injury can also involve externally-visible nasal deformity, and proper repair may involve more than septoplasty alone--this would be called septo-rhinoplasty, and is often considered reconstructive and not cosmetic in nature. ...Read more

Does the shape of your nose change if you get deviated septum surgery?

Does the shape of your nose change if you get deviated septum surgery?

Possible: Regular septal surgery shouldn't change the shape if the surgery was done just to correct a deviation due to obstruction. How long can swelling last after deviated septum surgery? My nose has a small bump on the bridge that feels hard like bone. Could it be swelling?

Possibly: followup w/your surgeon As a general rule for my patients I say that 80% of swelling is gone after 2 weeks & 90% is gone after 2 months, but really more like 6 weeks. That being said-a bump on the bridge of the nose should not be from septal surgery. The septum is in the middle of your nose & surgery to the nasal dorsum/nasal bridge is more from rhinoplasty or septorhinoplasty. f/u w ur surgeon ...Read more
