Should I Keep The Newborn Away From My Toddlers When They Are Sick
Yes: This is an excellent question. I would say yes (and to have them cover to cough and wash hands often). I will also refer this to other doctors to learn what our healthtap neonatologists, pediatricians and infectious disease experts have to say about exposure to 'germs' and long-term health. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Fever, fussy: A newborn baby may have a fever (temp of 100.4 or higher) as a sign of illness. Irritability, poor feeding, poor sleep, or even lethargy could be a symptom. Severe cough or labored breathing could be due to a respiratory infection. Vomiting or diarrhea may be a sign of a gastrointestinal infection or food allergy. When in doubt, it's best to call your doctor if your baby is not acting him/herself. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
When is it ok to take a newborn out to visit relatives, i know they're more likely to get sick then us.
Hard to say: To me the scariest issue in the 1st 2mo is an infant with fever. Thats because some of mothers germs can quietly transfer to baby at birth ; weeks later become a major infection. It is good not to expose your newborn to a lot of people in the first 6-8 wks when a fever might be a terrible germ or uncle freds cold. If around, they must practice good hand washing ; staw away if ill. ...Read more
Family dinner on Sunday I have a newborn 4day old daughter is it safe to go or not? I'm worried about her getting sick...
Cold and flu season: I discourage new parents from taking their new babies out and about during cold and flu season. Use your best judgement. If there are going to be other kids at the family gathering then coughing and sniffles are likely going to be there too increasing the risk of your baby catching an infection. If you decide to go, carry hand sanitizer insist any body who want to hold the baby clean their hands. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Weight gain: Please check the baby's weight. His weight should not be less than what he weighed at birth. Monitor the weight weekly to ensure that he is gaining weight. You should consult your doctor if he does not gain weight. In any case he should be checked in the well baby clinic at regular intervals. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Will washing my newborns clothes and sheets 6 weeks before she is born be unsafe for her? Like will they collect too much dust and make her sick?
May be contagious : Newborns are particularly susceptible to catching other people's colds. Losing your voice suggests laryngitis which is often due to a virus that s/he might catch. Also, because its flu season, extra caution is advisable. You should see your doctor to see if you need treatment and what precautions to take with your child. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My newborn keeps being sick after a feed , mostly it is milk but it has been yellow a few times and he is slightly under weight. Is this normal ?
Yes: Would make sure he has been burped well and hold him upright for 30 minutes after his feed. Follow his voiding and stooling closely. If he is not peeing and pooing then you should have him checked at the doctor. If it is projectile(across the room) or pine green i would have him evaluated immediately. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
