I have cyst on ovary but don't want surgery. What other options are there? Its 6 cm.

I'm scheduled for surgery to remove my only ovary BC of a 7 cm cyst. are their any suggestions I can bring up to my dr to save my ovary?

I'm scheduled for surgery to remove my only ovary BC of a 7 cm cyst. are their any suggestions I can bring up to my dr to save my ovary?

Probably not: b/c the surgery is already set and it is more difficult to remove just a part of the ovary. However, since it has been there for 5 years and is stable, it an be followed closely. However, if it i now causing you much pain, perhaps it is time to consider removing it. Ovarian cyst: You don't mention which side the cyst is on but I'm thinking the left from the way you word it. We do try to remove just the cyst and safe the ovary in most situations. But that isn't always possible, so there is a small chance you may loose your ovary. Talk to this concern with the surgeon ahead of time so you know what to expect. ...Read more
