Should I give my baby a regular bath or a sponge bath to lower his fever?

Should I give my baby a regular bath or a sponge bath to lower his fever?

No: Fever is good, as it helps the body fight off infection. As long as baby looks happy and playful, you don't need to treat the fever at all. If s/he is fussy (and over 2 months), you can give Acetaminophen (tylenol). If it is bathtime and baby looks fine despite a fever, there is no reason s/he can't take a bath -- but no need to give the bath to specifically to lower the fever. ...Read more

How do I give my infant a bath in the bathtub?

How do I give my infant a bath in the bathtub?

Carefully: Make sure you never leave your infant alone in the bathtub. Always keep a hand on them to help keep them steady and avoid any falls. Use warm water and a non-scented soap/shampoo to clean. Rinse with warm water and immediately wrap in a warm towel (you can put it in the dryer during bathtime to warm it up) after bath is done. ...Read more

Infant fever 7 months old. It could be from teething. But do I do. And can I give him water and how much?

Infant fever 7 months old. It could be from teething. But do I do. And can I give him water and how much?

Fever greater than 100.5 is most likely related to a viral infection and could be treated with Motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen). If fever persists for more than 3 days or your baby has persistent inconsolable crying he should definitely be seen. 1-2 oz of water in a sippy cup is ok. ...Read more

Can you give infant Tylenol (acetaminophen) to a baby if they don't have no fever?

Tylenol (acetaminophen): Why would give tylenol (acetaminophen) to a baby if there is no fever, unless if you know for sure that the baby is in pain for example from teething. Too much tylenol (acetaminophen) is not good for the liver. Good luck ...Read more

14month old son. What temperature means fever? What to do immediately when fever?Give infant Tylenol (acetaminophen) or something?Pl suggest.

Take a breath: For most healthy children, I consider 101 to be a fever. For tiny or sick babies it's different. Take a breath and immediately take a good look at your son. Is he breathing usually/comfortably? Is he drinking fluids and having wet diapers? Fever is a defense mechanism which helps your body fight infections by making it less hospitable. Tylenol (acetaminophen) can lower fever, but isn't always needed. ...Read more
