Should I feed my baby with formula with or without fluoride on the water?

Should I feed my baby with formula with or without fluoride on the water?

Or, can supplement: A little Fluoride is good, but too much isn't good for teeth either. If you don't use water with fluoride, you can use a liquid Fluoride supplement or multivitamin with fluoride. If your water has fluoride, however, as many public water utilities do, or if you use bottled water without fluoride, you won't want to use a Fluoride supplement. ...Read more

Baby now 5w takes 3oz of soy formula prepared with fluoride Nusery Water every 3-4 hours. fluorosis or are the amounts safe? Formula fed since day 3.

No need.: Congrats on your new baby and 3oz of formula prepared with nursery water with fluoride is not necessary. There are concerns about too much fluoride causing fluorosis and no need to use nursery water with fluoride. Most babies do not need fluoride until after 6 months of age. If you like nursery water, use it without fluoride until older than 6 months. ...Read more

For baby formula is it better to use baby water w or wo fluoride?

For baby formula is it better to use baby water w or wo fluoride?

Fluoride: One of the best ways to strengthen teeth & make them less susceptible to tooth decay is the incorporation of Fluoride into the actual structure of the enamel as they form. This is much better than any Fluoride treatment to the surface of teeth later on. Whether or not to use Fluoride supplements, vitamins with Fluoride or nothing depends upon the amount of Fluoride in the natural water supply.->. ...Read more

I prepare my baby's formula with bottled Spring Water. Is that better than nursery fluoride water? Do I need to boil spring water?

I prepare my baby's formula with bottled Spring Water. Is that better than nursery fluoride water? Do I need to boil spring water?

Why not tap water?: Most tap water is perfectly safe to make infant formula with, and likely does not need boiling. Most city tap water contains adequate fluoride and is comparable to nursery water. Bottled water is regulated by the FDA, but mineral content is highly variable, which is somewhat concerning if given to an infant over long periods of time. Fluoride in water is not necessary until teeth are visible. ...Read more

No risk: Fluoride in the baby's water is a great idea but your pediatrician should know the amount of Fluoride in the water in your community and whether or not the baby is using tap water or other source of bottled water which may not have Fluoride so they can advise whether a Fluoride supplement is indicated, . ...Read more

Baby 3 weeks, What water safe to use with powder formula? Bottled Spring water vs bottled purified water w/ minerals & fluoride. Don't like using tap.

Distilled: Distilled water would be ideal at this stage. Fluoride is not necessary until the teeth start to erupt. 'Drinking water' is from a municipal source ( tap water), nursery water is often priced higher and not necessarily superior to Distilled. Spring water quality is variable is quality and consistency. ...Read more

Supplementing with formula utilizing Nursery Newborn water w/fluoride. I asked the pediatrician and she told me it was ok. My baby is 3w. Concern?

Supplementing with formula utilizing Nursery Newborn water w/fluoride. I asked the pediatrician and she told me it was ok. My baby is 3w. Concern?

No concern...: The Nursery newborn water with fluoride does not have a concentration of fluoride above 0.7 ppm which is the reported "optimal level". Fluoride is also very often added to the drinking water that you get from the tap (depends on your community). I would not recommend additional fluoride vitamins, but mixing the formula with the nursery water is fine. Congratulations on the new baby! ...Read more
