Should I be concerned that I am only 30cm at 34 weeks?

Should I be concerned that I am only 30cm at 34 weeks?

Yes: Concerned, but not worried. Some moms seem to consistently carry their babies in a way that makes them measure "size less than dates", so everything can be perfectly fine. However, such a measurement usually prompts a sonogram to confirm that there has been adequate fetal growth and that there is a normal fluid level. ...Read more

I am 31.5 weeks pregnant and my belly is measuring at 35 weeks. Is this something I should be concerned about? I also do not have gd.

Maybe: Measuring larger than dates can be a sign of an issue such as growing a large baby or extra fluid around the baby. More likely the baby is just fine. An ultrasound to the check the baby and fluid will tell you if there is an issue or not. ...Read more

I am 34 weeks pregnant and have been having pressure. I am 1cm dilated w/ a soft cervix. Should I be worried about early labor? This is my 2nd child.

Ask your doctor: You're going to need to ask your midwife or doctor about this one. If you are having contractions that are changing your cervix, then you definitely need to be worried. If you are not having contractions and your cervix is not changing, then you are ok. Don't take any chances though. You really don't want to have a premature baby. ...Read more

Hi, I am 4 week pregnant. I am bleeding for past two days and my HCG is 4550 when they tested today. they could see a small sac. should I be worried that I am miscarrying?

Close follow up: first trimester bleeding may be a miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy or implantation spotting. your HCG and the presence of a small sac is reassuring but not conclusive. you will require close follow up to establish a diagnosis and appropriate treatment. your HCG levels should be monitored and you should have a repeat ultrasound to confirm a viable pregnancy. ...Read more

I am 6 weeks pregnant i only had some symptoms at week 4 is it normal for me not to feel any symptoms at this time? Should i be worried?

Pregnancy symptoms: It's probably fine that you are doing well. Every pregnancy is different and the symptoms vary for everyone. While I have had the occasional patient who suddenly stops feeling pregnant just before having signs of a miscarriage, that doesn't mean you are having that issue. Remember too that women who have kids like to tell you their pregnancy horror stories more than give helpful advice. ...Read more

Should I be worried if I am a smoker and at 20 weeks my baby is 10 ounces?

Should I be worried if I am a smoker and at 20 weeks my baby is 10 ounces?

Stop smoking: If you are concerned about low birth weight in your child, you MUST make every effort to discontinue your smoking. However, 10 oz. at 20 weeks is within the normal range for fetal development. Smoking reduces blood flow to the placenta, and does far more potential damage than just low birth weight, which is serious enough in its own right. Talk to your OB provider about smoking cessation help. ...Read more

I just found out i'm pregnant, I have had two past high risk complicated pregnancies . Is it possible to be contracting at just 4 weeks pregnant because I feel like I am and if I am what should I do?

Get evaluated: Early pregnancy loss is common, so having an early evaluation is reasonable. If you think you conceived 4 weeks ago (and you are about 6 weeks from your last period) then a transvaginal ultrasound should be able to determine location and viability of your pregnancy. Get in for this as soon as you can. ...Read more

I have a sch 1.5 CM and I am so worried about my pregnancy. Is that considered small at this point or should im worry. Why does this happen?

Think positive.: Subchorionic hemorrhage happens and yes, it is one of the most anxiety-provoking phenomenons of early pregnancy. Fortunately the size of the hemorrhage is not associated with the likelihood of miscarriage, although the risk is increased slightly. Think positive, have hope, and follow up. Spotting is likely, expect it, but may not mean much. Best of luck. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2106217. ...Read more

Bleeding after sex at 34 weeks, is it normal? Hasn't happened at any other stage in pregnancy and sex was normal. Should I be concerned?

Bleeding after sex: During pregnancy, the lining of the canal leading to the womb (cervical canal: endocervical) can expand, covering the external cervix in the vagina. Sexual activity can irritate these cells and cause minor bleeding. This alone is not harmful to the pregnancy, but if bleeding continues and clots are seen, immediately see your healthcare professional for advice. ...Read more

I am 34 weeks pregnant and ate a turkey sandwich. Should i be concerned about listeria?

Listeria: The incidence of listeriosis in pregnancy is 12 per 100, 000. Thus it is a rare disease. Listeria is found commonly in nature. So it can be hard to avoid being exposed to it. I ate luncheon meats when pregnant w/o problems but if you want to be really prudent: wash your hands after you handle hot dogs. Avoid cross-contaminating fluid from hot dogs packages with utensils or food prep surfaces. >. ...Read more
