Should I be concerned if I am not feeling fetal movements at 28 weeks?

See below: Some mothers do not feel the child move until late into the pregnancy. Your OB doctor should be able to check fetal heart tones and movement. This can be done via ultrasound to get a really good idea of movement. Talk to your OB doctor to express your concerns. ...Read more

I am 31.5 weeks pregnant and my belly is measuring at 35 weeks. Is this something I should be concerned about? I also do not have gd.

Maybe: Measuring larger than dates can be a sign of an issue such as growing a large baby or extra fluid around the baby. More likely the baby is just fine. An ultrasound to the check the baby and fluid will tell you if there is an issue or not. ...Read more

I am 20 weeks. My baby bump doesnt seem to be growing and baby movements are VERY sporadic at best. Should I be concerned?

Fetal movements: First detection of fetal movement ranges from 13 to 25 weeks. It may not be felt until 18 to 20 weeks in some first time mothers but might be felt as early as 13 to 16 weeks in some. Some women are just starting to have quickening at 20 weeks. So, I wouldn't be so concerned this early on. Your physician would let you know if there was a problem with growth. Congratulations and stay well. ...Read more

I am 19 weeks pregnant and haven't felt any movement yet. Should i be concerned?

I am 19 weeks pregnant and haven't felt any movement yet. Should i be concerned?

No: If this is your first pregnancy, i don't expect you to feel bonafide fetal movements until the 22nd or 23rd week of pregnancy. Women who have been pregnant before have "corporate knowledge" and can tell the difference between fetal movements and background movements like bowel activity at a younger gestational age. I wouldn't fret just yet. ...Read more

I am 6 weeks pregnant i only had some symptoms at week 4 is it normal for me not to feel any symptoms at this time? Should i be worried?

Pregnancy symptoms: It's probably fine that you are doing well. Every pregnancy is different and the symptoms vary for everyone. While I have had the occasional patient who suddenly stops feeling pregnant just before having signs of a miscarriage, that doesn't mean you are having that issue. Remember too that women who have kids like to tell you their pregnancy horror stories more than give helpful advice. ...Read more

Should I be concerned that I am only 30cm at 34 weeks?

Should I be concerned that I am only 30cm at 34 weeks?

Yes: Concerned, but not worried. Some moms seem to consistently carry their babies in a way that makes them measure "size less than dates", so everything can be perfectly fine. However, such a measurement usually prompts a sonogram to confirm that there has been adequate fetal growth and that there is a normal fluid level. ...Read more

Should I be worried if I am a smoker and at 20 weeks my baby is 10 ounces?

Should I be worried if I am a smoker and at 20 weeks my baby is 10 ounces?

Stop smoking: If you are concerned about low birth weight in your child, you MUST make every effort to discontinue your smoking. However, 10 oz. at 20 weeks is within the normal range for fetal development. Smoking reduces blood flow to the placenta, and does far more potential damage than just low birth weight, which is serious enough in its own right. Talk to your OB provider about smoking cessation help. ...Read more
