Is it ok to take 5mg folic acid every alternative day for a 29 yr old woman having pcos and trying to conceive?

Folic Acid Dose: I cannot recommend a dose of 5 mg every other day unless your doctor specifically ordered this for you. The FDA limits OTC folic acid tabs to 0.4 mg. Because high doses of folic acid mask vit B12 deficiency, if you take more than 1 mg of folic acid per day, you should take 1,000mcg of Vit B12 daily. Talk w/MD. ...Read more
