Possible, but you..: It is certainly possible that significant anxiety can make you feel as though you are out of breath, but you look into this further. Ther are other causes such as asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulm disease, emphysema etc..It seems that your sob is interfering with your daily activities and so i suggest you consult your doc for an evaluation. Dyspnea d/t anxiety: While anxiety can certainly cause shortness of breath, and you point out you've had no cardiac or pulmonary problems in the past, but do have a history of anxiety -- it's also important to remember that anxiety is a diagnosis of exclusion. See your primary, esp if you have any assoc sxs like cough, fever. With medical causes ruled out, it would be time to pursue a more robust anxiety treatment. ...Read more

Asthma, allergies?: Shortness of breath in the morning time only could be related to allergies and asthma, specifically allergy induced asthma. Pollen is more prominent in the morning hours. Could be related to indoor allergens in you home if you are exposed at that time. Could be exercise induced if you tend to exercise in the AM. Anxiety: You said you felt anxious and feeling short of breath-- I am wondering if you might be hyperventilating--it's not uncommon in acute anxiety for someone to feel like its hard to get a deep enough breath, because their breathing becomes so shallow. When this happens, one can feel "weird", dizzy, and maybe a little faint. Breathing into a paper bag can stop this. ...Read more

Guess i had my first ever full blown a nice attack about 8 day ago.Crazy feeling. I'm still experiencing shortness of breath. How long till i'm"normal?

???: Not sure what "a nice" attack is? Did you mean "panic" attack? If so, try re-breathing some of your air in a paper (not plastic!) bag - just for a few minutes. See if that doesn't help your feeling of breathlessness? Also, a mild tranquilizer can be very helpful. ...Read more

See a Doc: Anytime a patient has shortness of breath they should see their primary care physician. There are many causes of shortness of breath and you should see your primary care physician to make sure there is nothing serious causing those symptoms. Your blood pressure was relatively normal at the time of those symptoms. ...Read more

I began having shortness of breath in the fall of 2010. No real diagnosis but i still have it. I walked 4 miles a day with no problem. I am 61.?

Workup: While your breathlessness may be simple deconditioning, you should be evaluated. The usual initial workup is a chest xray, ekg, pulse oximetry, echocardiogram, blood work for anemia, renal function, natriuretic peptide, thyroid and breathing tests (pfts).
