ANS: usually not, so suggests due to GI problem such as hiatal hernia, reflux, gas(bad gas), Thanksgiving gorge, food poisoning, to mention a few. Depends: How long ago was the surgery? Off and on for a few weeks after surgery, upper abdominal gas and pressure discomforts can occur after larger meals or fatty foods. After spirometry i coughed phlegm/ pecks of blood. Feel burning sensation in chest. No chest issues before-symptoms of collapsed lungs?
Why the spirometry?: Please discuss these concerns with the physician who ordered spirometry. Spirometry may trigger coughing and labored breathing in patients that have active asthma but not in patients with controlled asthma or normal lungs. Spirometry does not cause collapsed lungs.
