Genetic: Most causes are genetic. My parents are short, and hence I am too. Just my bad luck, and nothing to do about it. Some are short because their skeletal systems are a little behind, and they catch up later. Again, nothing to do. These percentiles should be interpretted carefully though as one's racial background should be taken into consideration in deciding which curve is best to use.
