Occipital neuralgia?: You may be experiencing occipital neuralgia on right side of scalp. Excedrin will provide no benefit in this situation, but local occipital nerve block may help. Alternatively, drugs such as gabapentin, Grailse, or Lyrica (pregabalin) might be useful. See your physician and get this further evaluated.

Pain: Shooting pain may be related to migraine or cluster headache. Try to limit your stress levels and caffeine intake. If over the counter medicine does not help you, call your primary care doctor for an evaluation.

No: You probably sprained the neck and the pain caused you to have something bad happen like spill the beer. Perhaps if you stop drinking you will remember when you hurt your neck.

I have had shooting pain in the left side of my head that comes about every three minutes, and it just started a few days ago. What could it be?

Guessing game: Whether right or left, the point is that you are having fairly regular pains in the head. Still not enough information to make a diagnosis. Statistically, most likely diagnosis at your age is migraine.

See your dentist: Dentists specialize in treating facial issues. See your dentist and have them evaluate you for bruxism, an abscessed tooth, trigeminal neuralgia, or TMJ. Your symptoms could be a wide range of issues. Your dentist should be able to help you figure out what is wrong or can point you in the direction of a specialist who can. Best of luck :)

I have been having shooting pain on the left side of my head for two days now. My left pupil is bigger than my right in dim light. Should I be worried?

Pupil big: Normally the pupils are wide in darkness, but if it is only on one side and accompanied with shooting headache, you need a neurological evaluation as soon as possible. Blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, etc should be watched for as well. How did the pain start? Have this info ready when you see the doctor.

If I'm getting shooting pain on the left side of my head could that be a pinched nerve in my neck?

Many things: Could be many things, including TMJ. Start with your regular MD. If TMJ, see a TMJ-orofacial pain expert to help evaluate and treat your problem. A TMJ-oro-facial pain expert can be general dentist, an oral surgeon, prosthodontist, orofacial pain specialist. Ask your physician, dentist or dental society for a recommendation.

Shooting pain: There really is not enough information to narrow down much the possibilities of what could be causing your pain. Anxiety can play a role in many complaints, including pain. However, as this pain is excruciating and persisting for two months I would encourage you to see your doctor to clarify what else could be causing this.

Slipped disc??: Just like you have heard of people having sliooed discs in the lower part of their backs they also have them in the spinal vertebrae too. You should be evaluated by your doc and maybe get a cervical collar and maybe get a neck traction device.

What can cause a shooting pain followed by dizziness on the left side of the head. Only lasts for about 5-10 seconds, have never had a head injury.

Neuralgia?: Irritation of a nerve can cause unilateral (one side) shooting pains and dizziness might occur in some situations of head nerves. The fact that it only lasts a few seconds might support the idea of a "neuralgiform" pain syndrome (stemming from nerve irritation). These can be difficult to track down, and tests often normal. Any relationship to the wisdom tooth extraction?

When I rub the right side of forehead I can feel viens or nerves. When I rub them they make a clicking sounds and has shooting pain that goes up head?

Stop: You may be indeed rubbing veins, arteries and small nerves depending on how much pressure you are using and aggression in motion. If you are fine without this pressing leave it be, you ae likely causing either or muscle spasm or nerve stimulation causing this headache.
