Sharp Headache: It depends. Generally my rule of thumb to recommend medical evaluation is if the pain is increasing in frequency, duration, or severity. If so, get it checked. Positional head pain: The causes of headaches are enormous in number. Positional changes that provoke headache help differentiate but without a thorough neuro exam are difficult to diagnose. Consider cervical spine disorder, peripheral cranial nerve / occipital nerve cause, or more seriously a spinal fluid pressure cause. Many times a herniated disc in the neck can cause arm pain especially if you have not improved with the medications and physical therapy.
