Shoddy Lymph Nodes
Lymphadenopathy: Lymph nodes enlarge as a result of their normal activity in aiding in immunity, but may also enlarge because of malignancy of the lymphatics or extension of other cancers to the lymph nodes. When cancerous they are often hard to touch, fixed to underlying tissues, not tender. The best answer however, is that if concerned, they may need to be biopsied for a diagnosis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I can feel the litle lymph nodes on the side of my 4 yearolds neck all the time they are not enlarged i can just feel them is that a bad thing ?
Location and Size: Lymph nodes in 4 yr old are normal unless large, painful or in wrong location. Small, round, firm, painless along chain in front or back of neck is normal. Increase in size with response to inflammation, i.e. Allergies/uri. Abnormal if large, painful, external skin changes or associated with systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, weight loss, rash- and should be evaluated. ...Read more
Have it checked out: Lymph nodes that are swollen and painful constantly may be a reflection of chronic infection. The enlarged lymph nodes may also be a manifestation of lymphoma which is a type of cancer that affects the white blood cells and is localized to the lymph nodes. This should be evaluated by your doctors. ...Read more

High risk: Bladder cancer found to be in the lymph nodes at the time of bladder removal is considered "advanced" and 5 year survival estimates are on the order of 25-30%. However, some patients with relatively little involvement of the nodes can experience prolonged survival, if not cure, from thorough surgical removal of lymph node tissue at the time of surgery for bladder removal. Chemotherapy may help. ...Read more
For the last week I've had a pain in my left armpit. Now it's severe pain. I can barely move without it hurting so bad. Could it be lymph nodes?
I was sick 2 years ago so badly all lymph nodes in neck swelled, one is still swollen but not bad at all. Is it calcified. Doesn't hurt, can't see it?
Maybe: Sometimes lymph nodes react to infections and when the infection is over they stay enlarged. If the node is not tender and stable probably nothing to worry about. You would need some type of Xray to tell if it is calcified. Don't think that is worth he trouble. ...Read more

Cat scan from last year showed enlarged thymus and lymph nodes. Is this bad? My dr never told me about this
Probably not: Without knowing the sizes and measurements it is extremely unlikely that it is worrisome. It is very common for a younger person to have a "residual thymus" that is a remnant of our youth. Lymph nodes are in fact, normal when not enlarged. So, that's probably why you were not told. If you are still concerned, as your doc for the specifics. ...Read more
19 y/o, 2 movable lymph nodes in right armpit. Not growing in size, sometimes aches, bad anxiety, docs don't seem bothered. Can't stop worrying.
See if this helps: It's good that they are moveable and sore. Malignancies often are fixed and painless. Also good that the doctors are untroubled. It 'd be better if they were able to convey relief as well as lack of concern, but tight schedules make that hard. A likely cause is an infection of some sort. A cyst is also a possibility (nothing to fret about). Don't use anti-perspirant. Give it time, then ask again. ...Read more
I have mono, went and had lymph nodes checked out and the doctor said the swelling is normal. Sometimes it feels hard when it swells. Is that bad?
I have a boil under my arm and the pain is severe but im not sure if its bad enough to get checked out ?? I feel like my lymph nodes may be swollen
Boil handled locally: If boil does not enlarge and is managed locally it should resolve. Most infections here are from skin appendages such as sebaceous cyst that is infected, a sweat gland infection or from hair follicle. Warm soaks, antibiotics if temp present should bring lesion down. If not incisional drainage may be needed. ...Read more
