Do I have tendonitis if my leg calf and ankle swells and hurts during any walking or workout that invloves running or up-hill excersises?

Quite possible.: If no history of injury like a sprain, tendonitis, an overuse syndrome could be the cause. Need to try rest, elevation, compression bandage, and icing it. Perhaps an orthopedic specialist or sports medicine specialist can let your know if you need orthotics or procedures such as for tarsal tunnel. Make sure you change sports shoes because they wear down. A change in shoes can make a big difference ...Read more

I hurt the lower part of my left calf muscle or tendon while running two weeks ago. What can I do to heal it faster, short of not using my leg?

I hurt the lower part of my left calf muscle or tendon while running two weeks ago. What can I do to heal it faster, short of not using my leg?

Gastroc strain?: If u have strained ( partially torn) the medial( inside) head of your gastrocnemius muscle( most common injury that your symptoms suggest)rest for 4-6 wks(or u risk re-injury),heel lift can help. Exam and MRI will confirm diagnosis.Unfortunately there is no substitute for rest in this case and other muscle strain injuries( i.e.hamstring). Best of Luck! ...Read more

I hurt my hip 3 weeks ago while running. Can't lift the leg or cross my legs. Do I have a hip labral tear?

Many possibilities: The fact that you can't lift your leg suggest hip flexor strain/tear (a high degree strain). Without a fall it would be unlikely to have a sudden label tear, though they can develop over time. Best to get a diagnosis from a sports med doc right away. All of those diagnoses benefit from physical therapy +\- a brief course of anti- inflammatories. ...Read more

Been running and gradually the last four runs my calves are really hurting , having pains down by the sides if my shins and i've noticed a vein poppin?

Been running and gradually the last four runs my calves are really hurting , having pains down by the sides if my shins and i've noticed a vein poppin?

Try stretching : Most often, the symptoms you describe are caused by entering in to strenuous exercise without stretching or easing in to the activity. The pain down the sides of your shins are most likely peroneal muscle strain if on the outside, calf muscle strain if on the inside. A "vein poppin" usually means there is some venous back pressure in the leg, once again likely due to ungraduated exercise. ...Read more

This : This sounds like shin splints. Usually caused by over stress of the medial tibia (shin bone). Stretching the calves will help, having a someone from a running store watch you run may help, sometimes people who over pronate while they run can be at risk for shin splints. A good motion controlling show may help. If you recently increased your mileage it could also be a stress fracture. An x-ray may show this but an MRI may be better.

If it is not getting better after some rest then i would go see a doctor. ...Read more

?shin splints: You may have shin splints from running too often. Try a day of rest in between runs. Stretch more often. Anti-inflammatories. You could have knee arthritis. Some people benefit from heel wedges but not ankle braces when they have bowed legs. If this doesn't help, then I think he need an examination by an orthopedic doctor & XR. There could also be a knee cap tracking issue. ...Read more
