When it activates, it will follow the course or length of that nerve - where you are describing it, front to back along an almost straight line on one side of body only, right or left. Go up the ranks: See a doctor to find out if you have a problem at the level of the upper thoracic or cervical spine. Imaging (e.g. Mri) may be indicated. Do not be satisfied with a pa's assessment. No absolutely not: Rash of shingles is raised and fluid filled. Most important it is extremely painful. You didn't mention pain so i assume that's not a factor.
