Spasm is still there: If you're having sharp pains in the morning, it depends where you're having those pains that will determine what the problem is. Best if you go see your doctor, so they can do a physical examination of your affected leg. It has been 8 days, I have a medial and lateral ankle sprain, unsure of grade but def 2/3. Swelling ankle like a golf ball, bruising and pain in my shin. My ankle is stiff, X-ray show no break, tried stretching did not work, is this normal?
Yes: The ankle will swell for quite some time. Ice several times daily, elevate the extremity and if you can safely take it, ibuprofen will help. Once you can begin range of motion this should help with swelling as well. If you are not in one I would recommend a pneumatic cam walker and ask your physician for consult for physical therapy. Fell down stairs, was seen. Said I have a sprain. Bottom and top of foot hurt. Shin where I have carpet burn feels warm to touch and numb. No xray.
Be patient: It sounds like you have a bad sprain and some associated numbness where you got the rug burn, and most likely had some superficial nerves damaged in the scrape. If the rug burn starts to get redder and spread, the warmth gets worse, it starts to drain pus, than it may be getting infected, so seek help again in that case.
