Shaving Moles Before And After
I had a facial mole removed by the shaving method. It is now flat but darker. Is there anyway to lighten it? Or does it need to be removed again?
May need excision: There is professional debate about the removal of benign skin lesions - whether to shave them off or cut them out (excise them). Of course sometimes a darkened scar can be helped by topical applications of a skin-lightening prescription-medication-crème (e.g., hydroquinone). Nonetheless, sometimes the most effective treatment of a round scar from shave-removal is actual excision of the round scar. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I cut my mole shaving but i put peroxide on it right after but for the last couple of days i've been feeling really sick could these to be related?
Can cutting part of your mole accidently while shaving make it malignant ? It happens to me very often while shaving. That part grows again.
Cutting will not : Cutting off part of a mole when you shave will not make it turn malignant. Part of the mole you keep cutting is likely in the middle layer of the skin. When you shave off the top of it, the cells that are deeper down remain and regenerate the mole. That is why it grows back. There's nothing to worry about, but you could see your dermatologist to have it removed, just to eliminate the nuisance. ...Read more

Show it to your Gyne: Moles on vulva/vagina areas can be benign(if it is flat and of one color). Yet it can be a melanoma, a form of skin cancer( in case it has irregular borders and shows mixture of colors). A biopsy may be needed if it is suspicious. But only your doctor can help you in making this decision. So get it checked soon. ...Read more
I have cut a mole while i was shaving and it bled for awhile I have put a bandaid and neosporn on it since the incident. What will happen to my mole?
Hi. I have cut a small mole while shaving and this is not a first time. Is it ok to put the alcohol on the wound to disinfect it? Do i need to worry?
Keep it clean!: This should be no problem - it happens all the time. Any time you nick the skin, it is a good idea to apply first aid: clean with alcohol, and dab on triple-antibiotic ointment to prevent infection. The only time to worry would be if it starts to show signs of infection: redness, heat, pain, swelling, and drainage. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have a 2 mm dark mole on my thigh on a hair root. I may have nicked it shaving but it had a tiny scab, I picked and it bled a lot. Should I worry?
First let it heal: Then you can get a better picture of it. Remember ABCD. If it is asymmetric, with irregular borders, multiple colors, or a diameter greater than a pencil eraser, it needs to,be checked. If it is enlarging, or bleeding, or itchy, get it checked. And most of all, if you are worried, get it checked. Peace of mind is important too! Good luck! ...Read more

They are natural: Moles, "nevi", also called "beauty marks" are pigmented skin growths that usually appear at a very young age but can become more apparent with further growth. The vast majority are totally benign and don't require treatment. Rarely, if a mole changes suddenly, consult with a dermatologist for possible biopsy as abnormal cells may be present. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
They just happen: They actually result from a couple of mutations happening in a single cell of the nerve sheath family -- schwann cell or actual melanocyte depending on the kind of mole. These lesions are subclassified into lentigos, several types of common nevi, and a bunch of others. Common nevi and lentigos are more common if you got sunburns as a kid. There's a genetic component. Watch your nevi closely. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
