What could stabbing pain in the hip and knee pain indicate?

What could stabbing pain in the hip and knee pain indicate?

More details needed: When is the pain present, what does it feel like, are there two separate pains or is it a continuous line of pain from your hip to knee. What was the mechanism of injury? Does it hurt when you press on the area. Some diagnoses include intrinsic hip and knee arthritis/ligament/tendon injuries, bursitis, radiculopathy, soft tissue strain, etc. Basically u need to be examined by a physician.

RA: These symptoms may be related to a ruptured bakers cyst however I am more concerned for joint destruction by your RA and you should see an ortho surgeon for evaluation and keep your rheum in the loop.

Need exam...: This is obviously difficult to answer w/o an examination. Gastroc muscle strain from 2 yrs ago should be healed by now unless u keep re- injuring it and could be missed possibly on MRI. Fibular stress fx., peroneal nerve injury and other less common diagnoses are in differential dx. See a board certified ors in your area for examination and/or get another opinion. Good luck!

Fell over a pallet at work, landed on both my knees very hard, my right knee is giving me problems, sharp, stabbing pain.

Need xray: If not improved over a couple of days and still very sharp, you need to get xrays to check for fracture. It can have serious consequences if you continue to put weight on it.

My knee has a burning stabbing pain that starts in back and wraps to right below kneecap also swells clicks and gives out? What is it

My knee has a burning stabbing pain that starts in back and wraps to right below kneecap also swells clicks and gives out? What is it

See knee specialist: Based on that limited description I'd consider ACL tear (instability), meniscal or cartilage injury (clicking swelling), and saphenous neuritis (burning pain wrapping from side of knee to below kneecap), but what you really need is a thorough evaluation by a knee/sports med expert who can actually examine your knee, determine if further testing (MRI, etc) is needed. Hope that helps. Good luck

I'm 27yrs old and I have sharp stabbing pain in my left knee cap the pain gets worse every day now the pain is constant?

Maltracking: The knee cap (patella) rides in a channel at the bottom of the femur (patellar femoral groove) while being held in place by the patellar tendon. Sometimes it will slip and ride along one side of the groove, lose cartilage, and become painful. There are surgeries to correct this, and braces that can stabilize. See your orthopedist for an eval.

Quad strain?: Difficult to say w/out examination but sounds like you may have strained your quadriceps muscle or quads tendon w/ symptoms u are describing. Best to have it checked out so see your pcp w/ referral to orthopedist if necessary. Best of luck!

Strengthen: Quadriceps muscles and tape your kneecap based on the direction it goes when your walk or run. This can be accomplished by seeing a sports training physical therapy program.

Glad you are out: You need to see an orthopedic surgeon to get evaluated or you may start with your primary md. Once you and your doctor know what the problem is you can decide on treatment if any.

Sharp stabbing pain in my hip and from the knee down a very painful ache and my toes feel numb. Md wasn't that concerned, movement still pretty good?

Nerve pain: You may be expereincing nerve pain (neuritis) or what you may call a pinched nerve. The pain and numbness can be related to many medical issues. I suggest trying advil or aleve (naproxen) (antiinflammatory medication) if you are not allergic; however if not relieved you should get a medical workup for nerve pain.

Sharp stabbing sensation in left knee. Pain occurs when bending or lifting leg. No pain pushing or massaging knee. Ideas?

Ideas, many: Knee pain is very frequent, as with other pains try to recall: onset of pain, radiation, alleviating or aggravating factors, severity of the pain. Possible causes: sprain, tendonitis, bursitis, osteoarthritis, etc. You need to see your primary doctor first and then maybe you need further referral if is not a simple diagnosis. If you had a trauma and then pain seek an orthopedist.

See a pain doctor: Narcotics are not the best medications for nerve pain. There are many better medications. Spinal cord stimulators are used for pain after back surgeries. See an interventional pain physician and they can help come up with a plan.
