Umbilical hernia: Most likely cause of your symptoms is an umbilical hernia with fat caught in it. Do you notice a bulge in the umbilicus? A simple physical exam should determine if you have a hernia.

Probably muscular: Even though you don't recall any strain, the fact that it is intermittent and associated with movement probably means a muscle was strained--it can sometimes happen during sleep! Treat as strain with warmth, gently stretching. If it doesn't resolve, see your health care provider.

Pulling pain in belly button. Went away with advil (ibuprofen). No longer hurts but still pulling. Daily nausea & dizziness. Abdominal ultrasound and X-ray clear?

Try pooping: A general rule in medicine @ your age says the closer the pain is to the belly button, the more likely it is to be benign. You could be getting a bowel obstruction, especially if you have a history of constipation or low fiber diet. There are plenty of other things it could be, but this is usually what I find. Try a gentle laxative and/or increased dietary fiber.

I have this weird pulling/ripping sensation under my belly button, it's really painful if I move suddenly. What could it be?

Ventral hernia?: If you've put on weight it is possible to tear the midline tendon connecting your abdominal muscles. This can result in a bulge in the umbilicus (belly button) or in the middle of your abdomen. It is easy to diagnose on physical exam, and usually requires no treatment. If the pain is severe get checked out anyhow as there can be other causes.

Umbilical pain: Pain in the umbilicus May be due to infection or a small hernia. If the area is red and tender, infection is suggested. A small protuberance would favor an umbilical hernia. Your physician should examine you for diagnosis and treatment.

Can't diagnose: Can't diagnose this with the available information. However if the pain becomes severe – especially if accompanied by nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite or fever that would warrant emergent evaluation. Note if pain moves down toward the lower right abdomen or worsens with being jolted.
