Upper back pain: It sounds like thoracic disc pain. Disc problems are common and can cause radiating pain, numbness, burning sensation along the ribs, or across to the scapula. If the pain does not get better my suggestion is to see a spine specialist to get an MRI for accurate diagnosis, and start with physical therapy or chiropractic treatments.
