Sharp pain under left shoulder blade when running and still hurts when i take a deep breath. What do you recommend?

See a doctor: This is probably nothing but muscular but any pain that is worsened with breathing deserves evaluation by a doctor. Sharp pain under left shoulder blade can only take shallow breaths, sore when sitting moving or lyung down?

Doctor can evaluate: Such symptoms can be further evaluated. One can start with a primary care doctor, who may refer to a neurologist or an orthopedic doctor if necessary. A chest x-ray and lung exam may be needed, to make sure the heart, lungs, and their linings are ok. "sharp" pains can also be evaluated in the E.R. To be sure they are not related to a more serious problem, if one's primary doctor is not available. ...Read more

Been having epigastric pain for 5 mo. Last week or so been noticing sharp pain in my mid back and also sharp pain under left shoulder blade. Related?

Possibly: You may be having pain from gallstones. If the epigastric pain is on the right where the gallbladder is located, this could be related to gallstones. Occasionally, patients have referred pain to the area between the shoulder blades. It is more common to have pain under the right shoulder blade than the left. You can have your doctor check for gallstones with an ultrasound. ...Read more

Sharp pain under left shoulder blade. Movement-no pain, breathing-pain. Prev on blood thinner 4 clot. Off 1 month. Gall bladder out 1 wk. Another clot?

Possibly: You have pleuritic pain - meaning respiratory motion (rubbing of the pleural surfaces or the muscles of respiration) provokes pain. A recurrent blood clot is certainly a possibility. Especially if you have history of blood clots, are off medication, and had recent surgery - all risk factors. You definitely need to be evaluated right away. ...Read more

Okay to get in with your regular doc for evaluation. Labs to check your liver, US to check your upper abdominal organs, EGD, CXR. Go sooner if you have fever or vomiting. Be well. ...Read more

What are good ways i can fix a sharp pain under my left shoulder blade?

Eval 1st: This is most often related to neck/cervical spine related issues. A "pinched nerve" from the neck either from a disc bulge/herniation/bone spur is usually the culprit. The only way to know for sure would require an evaluation from an orthopedic surgeon or perhaps your primary care provider. Options include therapy, chiropractic care, injections, and eventually surgery. ...Read more

Ribs or Lung?: Pain when you take a deep breath seems to indicate that when your rib cage expands this is painful...This points towards a problem in the rib cage or pulmonary system although the possibilities can be many. If this is minor it can just be a strain of a rib cage muscle but if significant, see your doctor. ...Read more
