Sharp Pain In Top Of Head That Comes And Goes
Sharp pain on top left of my head along with a lump. Pain comes and goes every so often. The pain is only present no more than 2 minutes.?
Less worrisome: If the pain is intermittent. The lump could be a variety of things, but may require an exam to determine for sure what it is. Have your doctor take a look.
Have a sharp pain on top of jaw near cheek and ear. Is this something of a concern. The pain is never constant but comes and goes. Help needed?
Possible cause: Allergies can cause persistent nasal congestion/blockage of sinuses and thus can cause sinus infection. Sphenoid sinusitis, not as common as maxilary/frontal/ethmoid sinusitis, but can result from poorly controlled allergies resulting headache/pain to top of head, and may cause some dizziness at times etc. So it is possible. I would consult to have an eval to make sure. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer

Occipital neuralgia: Hi Amila, You may have an irritation of one of your occipital nerves. These nerves are formed from upper nerve roots of the cervical spine, and they course through a couple of layers of neck musculature to innervate your scalp. You may have some tight neck muscles compressing this nerve intermittently. Try icing your neck, physical therapy, or see a dr for an occipital nerve block procedure.
I had sharp pain on top my head, when I move just right. Then my neck feel like going spasm. What does this soumd like?
Neck pain: Neck pain when turning to the right that radiates to the top of the head and is associated with muscle spasms could be a pinched nerve in the cervical spine. Sometimes complications from a root canal can mimic a pinched nerve in the neck. See your dentist to ensure there are no complications related to the recent procedure before seeking a spine specialist.

Needs to be checked: You can take over the counter pain meds but if the pain persists you need to be checked by your doctor. The type of pain in the head can be due to many causes and if the pain persists you have to find the cause. You may have tension headache, migraine, vascular headache, headache related to other medical conditions, or headache following head trauma. So if it does not go away or keeps recurring see md.
Neuralgia: If the Sharp pain is shooting or fleeting, it is consistent with neuralgia which is a harmless irritability or slight inflammation of a superficial nerve in the scalp but not within the brain. Neuralgia usually resolves on its own after a few days, but if symptoms persist get examined by your physician or a neurologist.
How often?: Nerve endings in the scalp be hypersensitive for mechanical reasons. Bands or hats can put pressure onto superficial nerves that will fire out of turn at random times as a result of facial/scalp muscle tone. Bright sunlight wrinkles forehead and may trigger sharp pain atop head. The opthalmic division of trigeminal nerve refers pain to this region. If ocurring, daily see a neurologist.See 1 more doctor answer
