Several possbilities: There are several possible explanations and so you should see your primary MD. These include the bra is too tight, cardiac issues(less likely) muscle spasm or costochondritis and reflux to name a few. Precordial catch: This is a relatively common occurrence termed "precordial catch". The exact cause is unknown but it is felt to be when a dry spot on the lung lining sticks to the wall of the chest and the stretching when you breathe in causes the sharp pain . Musculoskeletal: meaning: pain originating from muscles/ligaments/tendons/bones in the middle of your chest, not related to an inner organ like your heart, as it is reproducible by movement not occuring at rest. Probly not serious: But, could be a musculoskeletal, pulmonary, or related to the membrane that covers the heart, or nothing. Can't pursue it further in this limited space. If with your chest pain, you have shortness of breat, nausea, vomiting, sweating, or the chest pain goes down your left arm, this maybe a sign of a heart condition. A number of causes: Including: foodpipe or the windpipe problems are the commonest cause of pain there. Most likely its inflammation of the foodpipe (esophagitis). Other causes include a bony lesion, like costochondritis, and very rarely a heart or the large blood vessels issues, at your age. See your pcp to be diagnose/treat you. Maybe sleeping with head propped up about 30 degrees (on 2-3 pillows) would be helpful. ...Read more
