My husband started feeling very sharp pain in his left wrist suddenly 45 minutes ago, he was just sitting down eating a sandwich when the pain started?
Usually skeletal: Sudden sharp pain with movement, even eating a sandwich, are usually caused by a motion that places structures in tension- joints, tendons, muscles, and ligaments. Wrist pain: Is it hot/ swollen? Injury? Could be a ganglion cyst, or carpal tunnel, or De quervains if you do a lot of gaming with your left or subtle fracture if injured. Less likely an arthritis. Could be CTS: It sounds like it could be carpal tunnel syndrome (cts)which is a type of nerve compression, but this will often affect other fingers rather than just the thumb. Is it on the lateral or outside of the thumb? It could be a tenosynovitis as well. If you look up a test called a finklestein test, you can check yourself and see if its that.
