Wrist pain: Is it hot/ swollen? Injury?Could be a ganglion cyst, or carpal tunnel, or De quervains if you do a lot of gaming with your left or subtle fracture if injured. less likely an arthritis. You could try an over the counter splint . Try advil (ibuprofen) if not allergic 200 mg two pills 3 x a day x 7, try sling 3 hours on 2 hours off. Follow up with doctor/ urgent care. Could be CTS: It sounds like it could be carpal tunnel syndrome (cts)which is a type of nerve compression, but this will often affect other fingers rather than just the thumb. Is it on the lateral or outside of the thumb? It could be a tenosynovitis as well. If you look up a test called a finklestein test, you can check yourself and see if its that. If you have neck pain, it could also be a radiculitis. ...Read more

Palpitations: The sharp wrist pain is not characteristic of a heart problem but sounds more musculoskeletal from a wrist structure. Diverse pains: I cannot see a correlation between these symptoms. The are likely unrelated. IF they have resolved then I would not worry much about these. If not, see your MD for an exam. ...Read more

A hand surgeon will take a detailed history, do a careful physical exam, and order plain x rays. Additional x rays often used are MRI for soft tissue evaluation and CT scan for bones. Wrist sprain: Sounds as though you likely have a wrist sprain. Although fractures initially, if minor trauma, may look benign in nature and the swelling and bruising may develop over the following hours. Something to keep an eye on and if worsens quickly, see your local doctor. ...Read more
