To ER: Other than cardiac disease which will worsen with exertion and also cause shortness of breath, it could be radicular pain from a cervical level. If you haven't been evaluated by a physician, you should be seen ASAP. Sharp chest pain isn't typical for cardiac disease, but women have atypical symptoms. Even young people can have heart disease. More info?: This could be gout, though there would usually be redness. Rheumatoid arthritis comes to mind but usually no sudden onset and generally more joints that one small finger joint. It would be good to know if there's been any recent trauma, spider bite, stick with a thorn? Does finger ever get stuck when bent? ...Read more

Probable strain: I suspect you may have strained either a tendon or ligament in your hand. Would probably take a few days off from golf and then go back out.
