Have sharp pain in back of heel when walking, is there a cure or treatment I can do at home to help with pain?

I have sharp pain in my heel that makes walking close to impossible. It feels lumpy, swollen & sometimes warm. It was sore off & on for 2 months but very painful for a week+. What do I do? Need to walk a lot in airports etc.
Something is wrong: Anytime you have pain, there is something wrong. There are a few possibilities. It could be the foot pain comes first, i.E plantar fascitis and as a result you are compensating or walking differently and then getting the leg pain.
