Sharp Pain In Head When Coughing
I quit smoking cigarettes 6 months ago and like 6 weeks ago I started smoking cigars now for the last 2 weeks I have had a sharp pain in my head only when I cough it doesn't always happen but at least 80% any ideas?
Stop smoking: Congratulations on stopping smoking cigarettes. Unfortunately, smoking cigars has the same hazards as smoking cigarettes- see http://www. Quitsmokingsupport. Com/cigars. Htm. I strongly urge you to stop smoking cigars. The pain in your head when you cough suggests inflammation. If you don't cough you won't have pain & stopping smoking should reduce coughing, if the cough & pain persists see a doctor.
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more
Began w/ headache (squeezing sharp pain) on Sun. Bodyache soon followed. Fever of 100 on Mon. No cough. No runny nose or congestion. No light sensitvy?
You are sick.: What with? Well that depends on where you live, what you do, etc. The symptoms you describe are totally non specific and if you feel sufficiently unwell you may want to go and see an actual doctor in person. If you are in Guinea, along the coast of Africa the list of possibilities is totally different that if you work in a school in Oregon. If you are worried, see an MD. FYI fever is 100.4 or moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have a sore throat, itchy ears and a cough that causes sharp pain. Persistent headache as well. No stuffy or runny nose. Slightly ferverish. Help?
Coughing: Can cause the head to hurt, especially if one has been coughing for days. If this persists, you must see a doctor to treat your cough and to make sure there is nothing more serious going on.
Every time I cough it feels like my head is going to explode and its literally a sharp pain and it only occurs when I cough, what might I have?
I have a sharp pain on the left side of my head (only when I cough) and I have the worst case of hypertension?
Does not sound good: Chronic hypertension increases risks for heart attack and stroke via atherosclerosis which damages the vessel wall and possibily cause anerysm--see pic here. When we get sick--bad cold, sinus/ear infection can cause headaches, especially with coughing. But you mentioned nothing else and so I am a bit concerned. I would take some cough meds, consult doc for eval as soon as possible. Good luck.
I have hypertension badd! For the last 3days I have had this sharp pain on the left side of my head (deep behind my temple) it only when I cough.?
Likely muscular, BUT: Even though the likelihood is low this is an issue other than muscular, if the headache persists tomorrow you should see your doctor for a check up. If the headache worsens tonight head to the er.
Hi every time I cough bend over clear my throat I get this sharp pain in my head on the left side sometimes it lasts all day others it'll go away?
Unclear: There are many parameters I do not know that would be helpful : how long you have had this cough, are you bending your head below your waist, have you eaten enough food / drank enough fluids, are there other symptoms. The increased pressure within your body during coughing actions can sometimes cause pressure in your head. However you will need an evaluation by a professional to seek more help...
I get a sharp pain in my head when I stand/bend over/move quick, also have an earache, stuffy&runny nose, cough, my throat hurts. What's wrong?
R/O SINUSITIS: R/O SINUSITIS: Yes you should rest irrigate sinuses with saline/take a nasal spray like Nasonex (mometasone) and finish a 2-3week course of antibiotics ie bactrim/augmentin /cipro. avoid abrupt changes in pressure. Ie flying/scuba/swimming if diving or snorkeling is undertaken. These activities may increase risk of worsening sinusitis and potentially rupturing ear drum.See 1 more doctor answer

Just eat ice cubes?: If you get many of these types of pains repetitively in a day then, you may have a type of headache known as "jabs and jolts."If this turns out to be a single episode then, it shall always remain a mystery unless you just had a furious argument with your significant other- then, hopefully they will get one as well! Remember the following address if they persist: www. Healthtap. Com/drsaghafi

Blackened vision, dizzy, and sharp pain in head when sit up or stand up. BP 82/56. Some doctors say its ok others say go to neurologist?
I'm biased: If somebody even thinks see a neurologist......you should probably see one of us. (And sooner than later) That BP is way too low. Need more information to say more (age, meds, conditions) Posterior circulation ischemia (dimming of vision and dizziness) can lead to a major brain stem stroke and death (or worse).
