Headaches: Headaches and their causes can be complicated, difficult diagnoses to make. With your past history of diabetes and high blood pressure, you should make an appointment with your doctor for a complete evaluation as soon as possible. You doctor will take a thorough history and do a neurological evaluation to try and find out what is causing your symptoms. You may want to think about the answers to some of the questions they may ask you such as: - when did it start? - how often do they happen? - are they getting more frequent or more painful? - how long do they last? - what does the headache feel like and can you point to it? - does it occur around the same time at night or does it ever happen during the day? - what other symptoms do you have and when do they occur in regards to the headache? - have you had any big life changes? - how is your lifestyle? Are you getting enough sleep, eating well, exercising? - are you taking any medications? Do you drink caffeine and how much? Answering these questions may help your doctor figure out what is causing your headaches, whether it is a serious problem or not, and how to help you. Good luck!

Occipital bursitis: This is likely from where a tndon in your neck attaches to to base of your skull. Many doc recommend nsaids or cortisone injection to fix this issue. Sometimes sleep postion or repetitive motions exaserbate this problem. Seeing a doc to rule out ear infection and mastoiditis would be a good idea, however, your symptoms are not consistent with this. Heat pack might help as well

Sharp pain behind left ear when turning head right?

Pain: This sounds like a muscular pain, possibly in the sternocleidomastoid muscle. I would try anti-inflammatories and warm compresses. If that does not help, see your doctor.

You may need a good: A good doctor for the long haul is what you need in order to help you with your problems. I doubt that you have a pinched nerve. Tylenol (acetaminophen) is a good all purpose pain medicine. If it does not control your pain well, then you may take a Motrin but not for more than once or twice as it can cause ulcers in your stomach. So you will be best served by having a primary care doctor whom you can go and see.

It started with hear palpitations 6 weeks ago and since I found out I hiatal hernia and ulcers, now pain all over body and sharp pain behind left ear.

Not related: Your abdominal problem has nothing to do with your ears or the palpitation. I suspect that you are suffering from anxiety and should consult your doctor about this. If you are grinding your teeth at night, this may be the cause for your sharp pain behind the left ear.

It can affect the ears: ringing, aching, roaring, stuffiness, hearing loss; head, facial and neck: headaches, neck and facial pain; locking of the jaw: closed lock- limited opening, open lock- can't close; bite problems: can't touch the teeth, grinding, clenching; toothaches; lose teeth, fatigue, etc. Need exam.

Lymphadenitis: Or swollen lymph nodes due to viral or bacterial infection. The swollen lymph nodes caused by cancer is not very common condition. I don't think that your case is any different. Headache is a separate issue. If concerned, check with your pcp.

Local Dental Options: If there is a nearby dental school, treatment can often be provided by students and/or residents at discounted fees. If finances are a major obstacle, you can try calling the local dental society in your area to see if they have any recommendations or a program where dentists volunteer their services to treat patients with financial hardships.

What could a sharp pain on the head behind the ear indicate?

What could a sharp pain on the head behind the ear indicate?

Several options: If the sharp pain is triggered by touching or wind blowing on the area it might be a neuralgia of the occipital or upper cervical nerves. If it just happens without an inciting event and is very brief then it may be difficult to elucidate a cause. Sometimes it can be from muscle spasms in the area. If the pain becomes more constant or ear symptoms develop then see ent.
