Sciatic nerve pain?: That is what it sounds like, this can often be helped with a chiropractic adjustments, sometimes a warm compress can help some, or muscle relaxants. There are also exercises that you can look up online that can help to decrease compression on the sciatic nerve, if that is what is causing the pain.

Many Possibilities: Depending on how long it's been going on, I would consider an evaluation by a pain/spine specialist. Sometimes it could be a muscle imbalance, early onset arthritis or scoliosis. Also could be a pinched nerve/herniated disc. Either way it might be good to figure it out and get appropriate treatment.

Spinal fus 1 yr ago. L3 L4. 2 mths ago. Ache near incision. Sharp pain in buttocks 3" to the right. MRI CAT nothing. Can put finger on sore spot?

Possibly msk: This may represent musculoskeletal pain or persistent abnormal signal from nerves that may have been divided during the surgery. There are medications that can be useful for primary nerve based pain. If musculoskeletal, conservative therapies such as PT or massage therapy can help. Recommend seeing DR to discuss.

Coccydynia.: This sounds like coccydynia, which is a pain in the tail bone which occurs after sitting on a hard surface for a long time or from falling onto your tail bone onto a hard surface. Can take a long time to heal up. You can try sitting on a "donut", that soft cushion with a hole in the middle that you find at the surgical supply stores. Anti inflammatories and heat may help.

Trigger point pain: You have hip pain trigger points in the muscles of the butt or low back. No. .. It in not you hip joint proper and no it is not sciatica and no need to get an xray. (yet) get to a massage person who will confirm and release the hip muscles. I do acupuncture and trigger points in the office because it is quicker. Do hip stretching. .. Mandatory. I have had mild to sharp pains on the top of my left buttocks for 3 days. It comes n goes as I walk. What could this be?

Buttock pains: Most likely this is due to pressure on a nerve as it comes out between the vertebra of the lumbar spine. This is usually caused by a slipped disk, which happens to all of us at some time or another. Usually if you wait 2-3 weeks, it will resolve on its own. You don't need fancy xrays unless it lasts over 6 weeks.
