Pain in left buttock traveling slowly down the backside left leg. Sometimes sharp pain and sometimes numbness while sitting. Better when I'm walking?
Many Possibilities: Depending on how long it's been going on, i would consider an evaluation by a pain/spine specialist. Sometimes it could be a muscle imbalance, early onset arthritis or scoliosis. A couple ....: ..of possibilities. I suspect piriformis syndrome. This pain is caused from pressure applied to the sciatic nerve by the piriformis muscle as it passes through or under this muscle. It can also be caused by nerve compression in the lumbar spine/sciatica. Stretch/strengthen of hip flexors/piriformis may help; consider visit to Sports Med/PT for instruction. Tendonitis likely: Sounds like achilles tendonitis if the pain originates from that thick tendon on your heel up to your calf. The most dangerous thing would be a blood clot in your leg, typically occurs after travel or sedentary lifestyle and you get swelling in leg.
