Randomly getting sharp pain in back by left shoulder blade. randomly, takes my breath away, lasts couple mins then goes and I'm fine. What could it be?
Pleurisy, perhaps: If this has been going on for a few days, then I would schedule an appt with my primary care doctor. I've had sharp pain in my back under my right shoulder blade when lying down for a few months. It now hurts all the time, especially with deep breath.
More info: There are many things that can give you those symptoms. When do you get pain? What type? How long does it last? Anything make it better? Anything make it worse? Does food affect the pain? Need more info: I will need more info re this pain. How long present? Did you injure yourself in any way, lifting, stumbling, carry a heavy weight, etc?? Evaluation needed: Very commonly, pain near or around the shoulder blade is not shoulder related at all. Instead, it is most often related to neck/cervical spine related issues. A "pinched nerve" from the neck either from a disc bulge/herniation/bone spur is usually the culprit.
