Another possibility is a herniated disc in your back, pressing on the nerves to go to these areas. Tough to say: without being able to examine you in person. Sharp episodic pain usually has a muscle or nerve etiology. Muscle spasm may be the culprit, alternatively nerve irritation and condition called meralgia pareshetica may be at play. Stretching exercises always help with muscle pain. ...Read more

Maybe from your back: I t could be an entrapment of the nerves down your lower extremity ( obturator nerve) or it could be degenerative disc changes of your lumbar spine causing radiculopathy. Aside from an examination of your physician an imaging study of your lumbar spine will help. ...Read more

Not likely serious: A sharp pain every other second is not the typical symptom for a significant illness . There is a common nerve condition of the thigh but it doesn't usually cause this type of pain. Rather it causes numbness and tingling or a burning pain. Ice, rest: Most likely you have a relatively minor strain or soft tissue injury since youre not describing an injury if you rest it and use ICS and nsaids it should calm down if it persists or doesnt get better you should be checked out by an orthopedist. ...Read more
