Belly pain is also known as Abdominal pain. Abdominal pain is pain that you feel anywhere between your chest and groin. This is often referred to as the stomach region or belly. Almost everyone experiences pain in the abdomen at one time or another. Most of the time, it is not caused by a serious medical problem. There are many organs in the abdomen. Pain in the abdomen can originate from any one of them, including: Organs related to digestion -- the end of the esophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, liver, gallbladder, and pancreas The aorta -- a large blood vessel that runs straight down the inside of the abdomen The appendix -- an organ in the lower right abdomen that no longer serves much function The kidneys -- two bean-shaped organs that lie deep within the abdominal cavity The spleen -- an organ involved in blood maintenance and infection control However, the pain may start from somewhere else -- like your chest or pelvic area. You may also have a generalized infection, such as the flu or strep throat, that affects many parts of your body. If first trimester abdominal ultrasound was not accurate why would doctors do them? Does it depend on your body type? Just curious.
Ultrasound dating: First trimester ultrasound is accurate within 5-7 days. There is no test that can date conception more accurately than a 1 week window. While ultrasounds can be limited in obese people, as long as they can visualize fetus, measurements will be accurate. Transvaginal ultrasounds can be more accurate but more invasive. Getting a more accurate date is unnecessary; babies rarely respect due date! ...Read moreGet help now ›

In the first trimester why would I feel a heartbeat sensation when laying my hands on my abdomen? And if so, will I feel it as my belly protrudes?
Probably your pulse: during the first trimester it is very hard to hear let alone feel a pulse from the baby. If you want to be certain, when you feel the pulse again, take the other hand and try to feel the pulse in your neck or chest. if the pulse you feel on your belly is the same as your neck or chest, then it is your own. ...Read moreGet help now ›

What is the accuracy of an abdominal ultrasound at 7 weeks? Is it greater than the standard of +/- a wk for 1st trimester since preformed abdominally?
Probably not.: First trimester ultrasound is accurate to about a week. This algorithm is based primarily on crown rump length. The date is as accurate as the measurement. That being said, a transvaginal exam is probably a bit more accurate, but it's only as good as the measurement. ...Read moreGet help now ›
