Shaking Hands After Drinking Coffee
I am experiencing shaking hands or tremor. I've had post concussion syndrome for 3 yrs. Not stressed, and don't drink. What could be causing this? Thanks!
Various things: A number of conditions can cause tremor in a young person. Some are benign, others are not. Your post is just the beginning of the diagnostic process, not the end. You need to see a live doctor in a brick-and-mortar office so that your doctor can take a comprehensive history and actually look at your tremor. That's ALWAYS the first step. ...Read more
Whenever I drink coffee in the morning and haven't eaten by afternoon at all my hands start shaking really bad and I feel it through my body?

Can you get toxoplasmosis by shaking hands with or coming in contact with someone who has an indoor/outdoor cat and cleans the litter box?
What could be the cause of my shaking hands? My dads hands shake too and he is a smoker but I am not and they get worse when I'm mad or nervous.
Tremors: Is shaking only when hands are in motion or even at rest? . Several causes exist, such as essential tremors, drug-induced, parkinson's, systemic disease, psychogenic (such as stress or lack of sleep), fatigue, too much coffee, low blood sugar, overactive thyroid. Worth getting evaluated to rule out medical causes. Most likely, yours is essential tremor & can be effectively treated. ...Read more
Unlikely: Masturbation is most likely to cause both pleasure & some feelings of guilt, depending a lot on a kids culture. It does not cause neurological symptoms. If a kid finds that they are experiencing some tremor, or fine continuous movements in their hands, they should have their physician look into the process. I'd be looking into an overactive thyroid or other issue as the culprit. ...Read more
Yes: SSRI's have a nasty side effect of causing agitation if you happen to be one of the unlucky ones. But before discontinuing the Prozac, (fluoxetine) check for other causes--allergies, alcohol or drug use/hangovers, localized muscle trauma, other medical issues, etc. Consult your MD before changing any medications... ...Read more
I have pain in my right elbow. It is slightly painful when I fully extend it and is a sharp pain when I am gripping something or shaking hands.
Poss. Epicondylitis: Hi! Depending on where exactly the elbow hurts and whether it hurts when you twist hand (a door knob, for ex.) clockwise or counterclockwise you may have lateral or medial epicondylitis, aka tennis or golfer's elbow--both "overuse" syndromes. After reading about HPV, I have been worried about getting it via holding hands, shaking hands, hugging etc. With friends and all, Shall I be worried?
Not so much: HPV is a family of viruses. Those with the most consequence are the strains associated with sexual transmission.Although there is times when these strains will shed & contaminate various surfaces it appears the STI strains pass only with direct skin to skin contact along with a mechanical or abrasive event. These strains are also site specific, tending to live only on specific genital skin. ...Read more

Is it likly to transfur viruses and bacteria via sex than any other contact, such as shaking hands?
This may seem a strange question, but can a person get HPV from just shaking hands with someone who has it? (or other non sexual contact)
Not genital strain: There are in excess of 100 strains of HPV with more than a dozen involved with genital transfer. The strains tend to be specific to a tissue area, so genital strains stay there (or transfer to some oral tissues). There are also strains that cause common regular skin warts, which could pass from skin to skin contact like a handshake. You don't pass genital strains with a handshake. ...Read more
Are there concerns when shaking hands with someone who has scabs or bandaids on their hands? I was introduced to someone who had cuts/bandaids on hand
Little or no risk: We all have daily contact with other persons' hands -- shaking hands, exchanging money, etc. Many of them have sores, scabs, etc on the hands and mostly you don't know about it. Even without sores, such contact can spread germs like cold viruses and bacteria like staph or strep, Probably no greater risk from this person than anyone else. This is why frequent hand washing is a good health habit. ...Read more

Very Unlikely: Unless the person you are shaking hands with has either fresh bodily fluids or fresh blood on them, the chance of transmitting HIV by such casual contact is remote. However, if you have HIV and have an open bleeding wound on your hand, the reverse scenario may be more of an issue, where it is you that should be concerned about transmitting HIV to others, if they have wounds on their hands as well. ...Read more
