I had vaginal sex with sex worker, condom split I pulled out immediately. Am I at high risk of hiv? Please help! So worried

Low, but not zero.: Hello, of course it depends on whether the csw was infected, but if she was the risk would be about 5/10, 000. You should follow-up on this and get tested, not just for hiv, but for other sti's as well. For hiv, a baseline test is done, and then repeat test (s) in 1-6 months as there is a 'window' period before the test may convert. The clinician you see can explain this in more detail. ...Read more

Condoms (Definition)

These are mostly closed end tubes of latex and occasionally other materials to cover the penis during intercourse and prevent pregnancy and disease transmission. A wise person uses them when the history of their partner is unknown. There are some available for women's use ...Read more

Low but not zero: Definitely recommend getting tested. It takes a few months, typically to convert to hiv, so you can get tested now to confirm your negative status and then consider repeating the test in 3months. There are other stds to consider: chlamydia, gonorrhea, herpes, hepatitis b and c. Good luck and I hope it all comes back negative. ...Read more

Had sex with a sex worker but condom broke with semen inside what are the possibilities of HIV or any disease?

Had sex with a sex worker but condom broke with semen inside what are the possibilities of HIV or any disease?

Get tested: Sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhea or chlamydia would show positive during testing right after exposure. When it comes to viruses like herpes simplex or HIV it becomes trickier: tests may turn positive only after weeks (herpes) or months (HIV). Local health departments are a good source for information. ...Read more

I received a blowjob from a sex worker without condom. What are the chances of getting hiv. My penis was red after oral and after a day it was normal.

Low but possible: All it takes is an infected sex worker that has a mouth/tooth sore that oozes blood and enough contact to an abrasion on your penis. That type of activity can transfer the virus. That said, there are some enzymes in saliva that reduce transmission. Gonorrhea, hepatitis B and herpes can also be transmitted this way. ...Read more

You used a condom: You used a condom. Your risk is only in your brain. You did not get hiv. I am going to be very frank. This is paranoia and guilt. There is no risk here for hiv. If I was your doctor I would do one more test in another month or two but would refuse any more tests. If there is a way you can get over your guilt then that would be the healthiest thing you can do. You do not have hiv. ...Read more

13 days ago I had sex with sex worker with two condoms I don't know the condoms are broke or not.. Please tell me what are the chances of getting hiv?

If that was your: ...only sexual encounter, & you have no other risks for HIV exposure, then your question should best be addressed to the sex worker. Your risk of HIV drops considerably if the sex worker is HIV-negative. ...Read more

Dear doctori had protected sex (by condom) with a sex-worker woman, 20 days ago. I don't know any thing about her health. I am worried about hiv. Is it possible that I might have contractedit?

Get tested for STDs: Most people w/ a new HIV infection will test positive by approx 25 days post exposure. Although u should get tested sometime around a month post exposure, it's also recommended that u get tested again 12 weeks after the exposure. Be sure to get comprehensive std testing along w/ HIV testing. See sexualhealth. Com or go to a local std clinic or primary care doc. Use condoms and avoid sex workers. ...Read more

Hi, In Ausgust, I received an oral sex from a sex worker. I don't know when she put the condom on me but I saw a red condom. Am I at risk of HIV?

Low risk: From what you described, you are at low risk. However, for your peace of mind you should get a HIV nucleic acid test. If the result is negative, repeat the test in three months. ...Read more

I had a sex (by condom) with a sex-worker woman. Test result after 16 days: hiv (1&2)ab/ag (p24)...Result:0.178 (negative). Method:ellisa can I be sure?

Not sure.: Can't be sure, but a few things in your favor. #1 used condom. #2 did not mention any symptoms of acute HIV infection. #3 initial test is negative. Having said that none of these things is perfect. Should be tested again at 3 and 6 months to be absolutely certain. In interim, absolutely practice safe sex as you could potentially develop infectivity. ...Read more

Any HIV risk during vaginal oral sex (condom used) with sex worker? Test needed?

Not just HIV: HIV is not the only sexually transmitted disease. It is unlikely that you picked up HIV if you had an intact condom on for the whole encounter. However, HPV and herpes could be still get transmitted. It would be prudent to see your doctor for an evaluation and tests. ...Read more

Hi doctor. Is a negative combo test 4th after 4 and 8 weeks cunclusive? I had sex with a sex worker in a legal brothel in Germany. Condom brok

Yes: If had a pregnancy test done at 8 weeks after her last period or 8 weeks after her last intercourse then it would be highly unlikely for her to be pregnant. In the future, consider obtaining a dose of emergency contraception when the condom breaks. ...Read more

Had protected sex with a sex worker 23 days ago. Should I be worried about the possibility of catching hiv/aids? The condom didn't break or anything. Also what are the chances of acquiring herpes if she didn't have an outbreak at the time.

Had protected sex with a sex worker 23 days ago. Should I be worried about the possibility of catching hiv/aids? The condom didn't break or anything. Also what are the chances of acquiring herpes if she didn't have an outbreak at the time.

Herpes: Herpes can be transmitted even without an outbreak at the time of exposure. Wearing of a condom should protect you against genital herpes and other STD's that are transmitted via vaginal sex but, of course, not when you perform oral sex. ...Read more

With a sex worker, oral & vaginal only both protected. No condom slippage/breakage found. After sex, I filled condom with water & no leak. Am I safe?

Hard to say: By definition a sex worker is exposed to many more STD's than others. Condoms do not protect against sexual fluids that contact other body surfaces and are thus not 100% protective. You did the best you could in the situation. However, any sexual contact you have is a chance you can acquire a STD. ...Read more

I had sex with condom with a sex worker. She was having a single bump on her inner thigh. Worried about HPV and herpes Washed my part after sex.?

Stop this practice..: If you are having sexual encounters with sex workers I would regularly get testing for sexually transmitted diseases just to be safe, even with protection. Of course I would avoid sexual encounters with sex workers in general as this is a risky practice and you are taking advantage of a vulnerable population and supporting a industry that harms and takes advantage of women. ...Read more

I use condom with sex worker. But I kiss her virginal liquid and next morning I get herpes on my mouth. So any change has HIV from oral sex?

Low probability.: Risk of getting HIV from oral sex is very low, probably close to zero. Incidentally, herpes takes longer than half a day to incubate, so your herpes lesion was not caused by that exposure - or else it was caused by something other than herpes. ...Read more

Negative HIV test after 27 days exposure. I use condom, but my mouth and finger touch sex worker virginal liquid. So any change HIV test second time?

The question is?: I'm not sure of your question, but it sounds like you may have come into contact with the HIV virus. Your blood test at 27 days after exposure was negative and you want to know what to do now? You should check an HIV test at 6 weeks and 6 months after exposure. If both are negative, you are 'good to go.' between now and the 6 month mark you should act like you have HIV - so you don't pass it. ...Read more

I'm worried from HIV dear doctor I'm worried from hiv, I had protect sex with a sex worker in dubai, I did french kiss and she sucked my penis with condom on then the condom just flip over a little bit and she fit it back. Then I did 7 minute of sex with

The: The likelihood of you contracting HIV is extremely extremely low. As I tell my patients....The name of the game is type of fluid that's exposed and the viral load of the virus in the fluid. An open wound in your mouth would increase your risk. An open wound or lesion in her vagina would also increase the risk. It sounds as if this is not your case. The only real exposure is the french kissing. There is HIV virus in the saliva of persons whom are not completely suppressed. There has been no documented case of transmission from saliva (this is contingent on no open lesions remember). I would rest easy...Its likely your ruminating over the encounter. Please be aware the sex trade is fraught with HIV carriers. There are other std's such as hep c which is equally serious...And possibly moreso because there is treatment but serious side effects accompany it. As of 2012 there is no vaccination. There may never be a vaccination. The HIV virus is the most complicated structure the medical and scientific community has encountered in regards to a cure. The best bit of advice is not to contract it in the first place. Please be safe. ...Read more

What are the chances of exposing to HPV after receiving blowjob from a sex worker? When can I expect to see symptoms?

HPV: This obviously depends upon whether or not the sex worker has HPV. Not aware of data which would allow one to estimate risk of exposure. If you became infected it is more likely you would do so without necessarily developing any symptoms. ...Read more

Had sex with a sex worker in spain about 5 months ago and used protection but I keep thinking I got hiv? What are the chances?

Need to get tested: Use of protection (condom) decreases your risk but not to zero. You should get tested in my opinion if only for piece of mind and to do a good thing for your future partners. There are also a number of venereal diseases as well as hepatitis c that are transmitted sexually. You should see a doctor asap. ...Read more
