Does having protected sex after taking Azithromycin for chlamydia hinder the efficacy of the medicine?
Depends: In general no, but since condoms leak/break, etc and if the person you had sex with still has chlamydia then you can reinfect yourself. Do something else until you both have a test of cure to show you are both negative. It does not have an effect on the pharmaceutical effect of the azithromicin. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My partner and I had unprotected sex the day after taking azithromycin does it effect treatment if it takes 7 days for treatment to kick in ?
Please clarify: I am not sure exactly what your question is. Does this have to do with you taking birth control pills at the same time you are taking antibiotics? If so, there can be an interaction which can cause your birth control pills to be less effective. I recommend the use of back up birth control if you are taking antibiotics. ...Read more

Can I have protected sex with someonetested negative forChlamydia before my sevendays are up or willthat interfere with the Azithromycin in my system?
How long till I can have unprotected sex after taking one dose (the two pills of azithromycin) ? 7 days?
It depends....: Assuming you were treated for chlamydia or a related problem like nongonococcal urethritis (NGU), it is ideal to wait 7 days. But if the partner with whom you are sharing this infection also has been treated, and if any symptoms are starting to improve, sex with each other shouldn't hurt anything. But for sure no unprotected sex with untreated or new partners until at least 7 days have passed. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I took two azithromycin 500mg for chmaydia last Tuesday is it okay to have unprotected sex today????
Hi, my partner and i both took 1g of azithromycin at the same time. We had unprotected sex the same day and and the next day. Will it work still?
Yes: My answer is based in the assumption that you both took 1gm Azithromycin after the last sexual encounter. The medication is in both of your systems and working. Give your systems a chance to recuperate and use condoms for at least a week or you will just keep giving each other an infection. Back and forth. You may need a second treatment so follow up with your physicians. ...Read more
