I had an echocardiogram show severe mitral regurgitation, moderate /severe tricuspid regurgitation &mild to moder pulmonic regurge. Is surgery option?

Mitral regurgitation: You should have this discussion with a cardiologist who can evaluate you and your status and review your data. Surgery is an option for many patients with severe mitral regurgitation but more is involved in the evaluation than what you have above, any recommendation from here has to be to see a cardiologist personally. ...Read more

My mother in law suffering from severe global hupokinesia of LV, Severe LV systolic dysfunction, Moderate mitral regurgitation, Mild Aortic reg,sv PAH?

Heart Failure: Unfortunately it appears that your mother in law is suffering from advanced congestive heart failure and needs aggressive medical treatment and follow up beyond the scope of this forum. A dedicated heart failure program in your area at an academic hospital is a good place to start. Good luck!! ...Read more

How are tight mitral stenosis & severe mitral stenosis different?

How are tight mitral stenosis & severe mitral stenosis different?

Unsure: "tight" mitral stenosis is not an official medical term. Severe mitral stenosis, as one could imagine is a higher degree of obstruction at the valve with greater consequences on blood flow (cardiac output) and greater consequences on the lungs (buildup of fluid in the lungs.). ...Read more

Summary of my resent echogram;

Need cardiologist!: There are a number of concerning findings on your echocardiogram. The left ventricular function (how strong your pump is) is just a little low; I'm not that concerned about that. The valves, especially aortic, are the biggest problem: to have both aortic regurgitation (back flow across the valve) and narrowing (stenosis) is very concerning. Follow up soon with your cardiologist. Good wishes:) ...Read more

Severe mitral regurgitation and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, what to do?

See a cardilogist: Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (hcm) is a significant and lifelong type of heart disease that can potentially have serious complications. Everyone with hcm should be monitored closely by a cardiologist. Treatment options include medications and surgery. ...Read more

What is mild mitral valve prolapse and associated moderate mitral insufficiency?

What is mild mitral valve prolapse and associated moderate mitral insufficiency?

Sometimes Related: Mitral valve prolapse is a common, typically mild condition in which one or both of the valve leaflets bulge backwards during valve closure. Mitral insufficiency is abnormal, backward leakage through the closed valve. If mild, negative effects are unusual. If severe, it can cause congestive failure, rhythm disturbances and other unwanted effects. Mvp, is one of many causes of insufficiency. ...Read more

Please explain what it "mild valvular aortic stenosis with mild aortic regurgitation"?

Please explain what it "mild valvular aortic stenosis with mild aortic regurgitation"?

Qualitative?: The aortic valve is the valve that connects the heart (left ventricle, a pumping chamber) with the aorta (the blood vessel that carries blood throughout the body. Aortic stenosis means that there is not free forward flow through the aortic valve, or in other words, there is obstruction. Aortic regurgitation means that there is back flow through the aortic valve from the aorta back to the heart. ...Read more

Could ventricular septal defect cause diastolic murmur?

Could ventricular septal defect cause diastolic murmur?

Two ways: A large vsd with increased pulmonary blood flow may cause a diastolic flow rumble caused by a large amount of flow coming back from the lungs across the mitral valve into the left ventricle. Perimembranous and supracristal vsds can cause aortic valve deformation, and subsequent development of a diastolic murmur of aortic valve insufficiency. ...Read more

Could valvuloplasty work for patients with asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis?

Could valvuloplasty work for patients with asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis?

No: This is a temporizing measure for those too sick to undergo definitive treatment. In patients who can tolerate definitive therapy, it is unwise. It would be foolish to choose it. While some may be seduced by its less invasive nature, it is no match for the results archived by surgical treatment. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Any problem will occur in future?

Hard to know...: More follow-up and directed testing may be necessary, especially for the pulmonary hypertension, in order to offer you an accurate prognosis. What's the cause? And how rapidly are the valve architecture and pulmonary pressures changing? These questions need to be answered to offer you a prognosis. Coordinate with Cardiologist. ...Read more
