Alcohol intake can cause bleeding in the intestine through multiple mechanisms. Alcohol is a poison and never did anybody any good. Your girl friend would be better served by not drinking. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Drink enough water daily so that your urine is mostly colorless.

Stay hydrated: The first rule of constipation is to stay well hydrated. If this doesn't work, try increasing the amount of fiber in the diet (food and supplements) to 20-25gm per day.
