It is very hard to know without seeing it so i would suggest taking a picture of it and making an appointment with your pediatrician/physician. See your FamilyDoc: You're correct on both accounts: taking meds as directed is important. However, sometimes side effects are worse than desired benefit. But this can only be assessed by your FamilyDoc or whoever prescribed your antibiotics and/or can evaluate your rash. There are life-threatening rashes so don't delay re-eval. Define "kick in": You can usually expect a reduction in the intensity of itching within 24 hrs. Swelling may take a bit longer. The skin rash will take a week or two to fade whether you have the shot or not.
