It's possible ...: ...but I think you first have to question whether the "itchy little red dots" were actually mosquito bites. Other kinds of bug bites, heat rash (miliaria) or even swimmer's itch caused by an allergic reaction to a waterborne parasite can produce red or white bumps. Use OTC cortisone cream for a day or two. Just a thought: but the appearance of the bite (eg bruising) is NOT typical of a mosquito bite and Springfield Mass NOT a place with any REPORTED mosquito borne illness thus far this season ( I am in Massachusetts) Sounds more like a SPIDER Bite with a reaction to the toxin .....some pretty "powerful" spiders exist in Western MA.
