Got earache which is intermittent and severe at times. Can i take amoxicillin 500 mg for temporary relief ? Pls suggest the medicine.

Need to know why...: If you have a bacterial infection, amox may help... But it should only be used if recommended by your doctor. There are many causes for earache-- one could be your recent filling, another would be eustachian tube dysfunction from allergies or a virus. You should probably schedule an appointment with your doctor to have an examination. Use Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen in the meantime. ...Read more

I just wanted to know can earache cause severe neck pain?

My 5 yr old has a severe earache. What should I do?

Let me say it louder: see a doctor! (i seriously hope you didn't wait for this answer and that common sense prevailed if the pain didn't go away and that you took your child to the doctor... Please?). ...Read more

Could an earache cause severe neck pain?

Could an earache cause severe neck pain?

Not likely: I'm a spine specialist, not an ENT doctor, but i've never run across any data to show that an ear problem can cause any severe neck pain. On the flip side, problems in the neck can cause pain to be felt around the ear. I'd suggest seeing an ENT doctor in your area to evaluate the ear. If normal, then find yourself a spine specialist. ...Read more

Severe pain all the time on the right side of my head, with earache and headache. What might cause it?

Severe pain all the time on the right side of my head, with earache and headache. What might cause it?

Migraine or vascular: If your hearing is normal, i doubt the ear is the source of the pain. There are many structures at the side of the face. These include the jaw joint, muscles that close the jaw, the teeth and gums. Inflammation of these structures can refer pain to the side of the head. Conversely, head pain can be caused by migraine, inflammation of vascular structures. See your primary doc. ...Read more

Had severe earache. During the treatment i started to have cough with black spiting. Till today i am suffering from it. What problem do I have ?

Difficult to say: There is an ear-cough reflex that may explain it. Check with the doc who performed the treatment whatever that was. Make sure there is only one disease and not two. I suspect that it will go away but better be safe. ...Read more
