There are other structures at the side of the face including the jaw joint, jaw muscles, teeth, lower jaw that may refer pain to the neck. See a doctor!: This could be a middle ear infection or external ear infection (swimmer's ear), both of which need to be examined and treated, but it may be related to other things (teething, sinuses, etc). Not likely: I'm a spine specialist, not an ENT doctor, but i've never run across any data to show that an ear problem can cause any severe neck pain. On the flip side, problems in the neck can cause pain to be felt around the ear. I'd suggest seeing an ENT doctor in your area to evaluate the ear.
