Severe Muscle Pain After Surgery
What to do if I had a lower back surgery 5 years ago an still have a lot of muscle pain what can I do?
Spine Pain Options: This chronic pain in the distribution as you suggested is the result of an irritated nerve or facet joints or other injury typically in the lumbar spine (low back) which are caused by herniated disks, spinal stenosis or degenerative disc disease, etc requiring further evaluation by a spine specialist and may be candidate for facet injections/radiofrequency ablation and epidural steroid injection.
It is a body tissue that has the ability to contract. It shortens and generates force. It relaxes and returns to its original length. Muscles move joints, stabilize the body, move air and food through the organs, act as valves for bladder, bowel and other organs. They control movement of the eyes. They help us express ourselves by changing the shape of our ...Read more
Immobilised due to surgery recovery, currently experiencing short isolated, random, numb/painful spots in my legs as well as muscle ache. Are they clots?
Can not say: Blood clots in the veins of legs (DVT) are a concern after surgery. Its diagnosed by ultrasound. Symptoms typically include leg swelling, discoloration, pain, and more. But it's hard to diagnose from symptoms. I have had patients I was sure had a DVT but ultrasound was negative. I've also had patients I was sure didn't have DVT but ultrasound was positive. If concerned call surgeon- get it checked.
Should I be concerned if there is a sudden muscle ache in left area just beneath scapula after triple bypass surgery acts/feels like a muscle cramp?
Immobilised due to surgery recovery. Experiencing short sharp random isolated spots of numbness or pain as well as muscle ache in my legs. Blood clots?
See your doctor: This is never normal. See your doctor. He/she will listen to you, perform an examination, and possibly order tests to find out what's wrong.
Shulder surgery in august 2013, for severe bursitis and bone shaved off as it rubbed against the muscle. All been well until it cracked and now pain?
Have it reevaluated: Then you must see the orthopedist and have the shoulder reevaluated. There is no way to determine the cause of the new pain over the internet.
I had piriformis surgery 5 months ago I still have severe sciatic pain, the surgeon removed the whole body of the muscle, I just started phys therapy?
See below: Not sure I can encourage you, as my experience with surgery to relieve piriformis syndrome problems has always been disappointing. Would get an opinion from an experienced osteopath, who works with sacro-iliac problems as omt is better suited to help you rehabilitate. Would also consider updated EMG to check status of sciatic nerve.
I have severe bilateral lower leg muscle spasms due to synovial cysts at l5s1 causing neuroforaminal stenosis. Is surgery an option?
Maybe: If your cysts are responsible for "nerve pain", and are associated with nerve root distribution numbness, weakness, and/or muscle atrophy, there may be a good rationale for a surgical approach. These days, arthroscopic and less invasive techniques are present. Suggest you visit a neurosurgeon and discuss.
I had CT surgery 6 years ago on my right hand. I have had severe cramping in my thumb muscle where my thumb is locked towards my palm.?
Tylenol (acetaminophen): Approximately 20% get this. It lasts for several days and can be associated with a low grade fever. It can be very unpleasant; feels like you have the flu. In general this is treated with Acetaminophen but no more than 1000 mg 3 times daily. If symptoms persist I would see your provider.
See below: Problems like these can only be correctly handled by your doctor in person. He/she needs to listen to you, perform an examination and possibly run labs or other tests. That's the only way he/she can find out what's going on and what to do about it.
Complicated: Where, when, what type of surgery, did you have anesthesia and what type? Too many unanswered questions to address this intelligently. Either reask the question with more info, or discuss with the surgeon who did the operation.
Not stretching: Stretch the muscle regularly.Get a more detailed answer ›
Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin: Should help. Drink lots of water. Hope u feel better soon!
I have been experiencing severe muscle pain on the left side only of my upper back area off and on now for several years and not sure what it is?
Subscapular bursitis: Easy to treat, but never diagnosed. There is a bursa under your scapula to let it glide smoothly across the fascia of your back. Causes high back pain under should blade. A course of steroid with xylocaine (lidocaine) can cure it, or give quite prolonged relief. Find a practicitioner in rheumatology or physical medicine who performs this injection! It is not truly joint pain, or arthritis!
Chronic muscle pain unk etiol. I need help to find a cause and pain relief protocol needed as it is severe, what can be done?
M any possibilities: Chronic muscle pain can come from many sources, the most famous of which is fibromyalgia. Unfortunately, there is no test to prove this diagnosis but instead you doctor needs to rule out the other suspects first. If this does end up to be fibromyalgia, avoid narcotic-based pain medications in your protocol. They do little for this type of pain.
