Joint pain
And high CRP What are some possibilities? Neg rf factor and normal ESR rate

? finding: Both CRP and ESR reflect inflammation but ESR is subject to more variations since it is affected by anemia , estrogen treatment etc. These two values usually correlate to each other and thus the discrepancy is puzzling. Talk to your rheumatologist about it. ...Read more

I am a 51yr old male. In my blood test , i found my ESR value 16mm/hr.I have severe joint pain also. What does this indicate?

Hard to say: A sed rate is an indication of systemic inflammation. Whether a sed rate of 16 is abnormal is based upon the normal rnage, which can vary by the lab that did the test. Assuming a normal range up to 10 , a 16 is only a minimal elevation and is not terribly significant. Usually, a detailed history, exam, and further testing will determine the cause, thank you for the question. ...Read more

Daughter had HSP couple yrs ago and now has joint pain agsin no rash but pos ANA and moderately high esr. Is this connected? If not what else can be

May be connected!: Good morning, i can understand the reason for the worry about the positive ANA and high ESR following hsp, which represents an immune-mediated vasculitis, which is an inflammation triggered by an antigen such as a virus infection. The presence of ANA and high ESR shows continued hyperactivity of immune system. As an immunologist, i recommend a follow-up by a rheumatologist to keep an eye on ana. ...Read more

I have urticarial vasculitis, high ige, high red blood cell count, possible tmj, joint pain, what could this be? Oh and hernia.Esr is 20.

TMJ maybe the clue: Look at your tongue in the mirror and see if there are little square indentation around the edge. If so, that is because you push the tongue (unconsciously) against the back of the teeth and clench your jaw. That indicates a stressed person from 1. Poor diet, 2. Work or family stress 3. Any cause of fear. Check out your diet and try meditation that is easy to learn. ...Read more

6yr old has joint pain pos ANA high ESR pediatrician says its jra but her rhuemo says from flat feet and her podiatrist says its not from flat feet?

6yr old has joint pain pos ANA high ESR pediatrician says its jra but her rhuemo says from flat feet and her podiatrist says its not from flat feet?

Hmmm: I hate to disagree with a rheumatologist, but flat feet do not cause a positive ANA and hi sed rate. Some sort of inflammatory and/or auto-immune process is involved. Some collagen vascular diseases can have these labs and also flat feet, but the feet don't cause the abnormal labs. Maybe a rheumatology second opinion? ...Read more

My daughter has joint pain but her joints arnt swollen and have positive ANA and elevated ESR leves. Could this be jra?

Maybe: By definition, to have jra you have to have swollen joints at some point. Sometimes the diagnosis is not obvious at first and time will tell. A positive ANA is worrisome for a rheumatological disease. Follow up with your md. ...Read more
