Severe Dry Heaves
I have had an endoscopy that showed no issues but still waking up to abdominal pain, nausea, and severe dry heaving that is debilitating. Please help.

On Prilosec 40 mg x 4 months. When I drop to 20 mg, wake up dry heaving and severely nauseated. EGD only showed mild inflammation.Continue 40 mg ok?
Yes: It's ok to continue. It can be hard to wean off Prilosec because you get rebound acid secretion but I'd give it another try. It's not harmful to stay on it but generally speaking, I'm just of the opinion that the fewer medications a person is on, the better. Dry heaving: Lots of things can cause nausea and dry heaving - infection like a stomach bug, electrolyte disorders, pregnancy, neurological problems. Your frequency of symptoms is pretty concerning, and really warrants a good history and physical exam. This may have nothing to do with the stomach, so it's really important to have a good workup. Diagnose first....: Before any cough can be treated, the cause of the cough must be diagnosed. Common causes of cough include acute bronchitis, bronchospasm from any etiology, post-nasal drip, gerd, etc. All of these causes have entirely different treatments and a cough can be due to more than one condition. Advise seeing an MD: "Dry heaving", when seen in the ER can be due to many causes, including any condition or medication which makes the person extremely nauseous (alcohol/drug intoxication, UTI, stomach virus, gallbladder/pancreatic disease, heart attack), or sometimes may be caused by a foreign body stuck in the esophagus. What causes nausea?: Nausea/vomiting may be gi-related (food poisoning, peptic disease, gastroparesis, due to biliary & pancreatic disease, gas/bloat syndrome, small bowel problems.
