Severe Cough After A Cold
I am in 6th week of pregnancy. Now I got severe cough and cold.... Willl it affect babay or pregnancy?
Most likely not: It is not the illness that is the problem. Your body's immune system should be able to take care of the cough and cold symptoms. The problem would be if you were taking medicines in order to deal with those. The placenta is an amazing barrier, however, when you're pregnant, limit yourself to tylenol/fluids/bedrest and other non-med support measures. Medication with pregnancy is a last resort. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it ok to take Claritin (loratadine) 24hr and then Theraflu nighttime severe cough and cold a few hrs later before bed?
Flu: Yes. BUT please remember that if you do not feel better after 2-3 days, then a visit to your primary doctor is advised. Assuming you have the flu virus, then take those meds, some Tylenol (acetaminophen) for fever and lots of liquid (juice, soup, water). If your cough and other symptoms persist, as I mentioned, schedule a doctor appointment. I do not think the cortisone is a factor at this point. Best wishes ...Read more

Follow up: Over the counter medications are not very effective. I would recommend relieving congestion with nasal saline, keeping well hydrated and taking a tsp of honey. It's been a couple of days since blurriness in one of my eyes. How long will it take to heal? I have severe cough and cold, and blow my nose a lot.
Viral syndrome: Your description is most consistent with a viral syndrome. Since the blurriness seems to be persistent, I would go see an eye doctor. ...Read more
