You should talk: To your gynecologist. At age 30 I would not want to blocking estrogen unless it was coordinated by a specialist. There are minimally invasive treatments such as uterine fibroid embolization (ufe) that you might be interested in

Is there any food or a way out that could dissolve fibroids? How can I shrink them? My belly is pouched.

Need physician: Nothing you can eat, and no home remedy, will touch fibroids. I'm sorry. Anyone who tells you otherwise is kidding you. If you're symptomatic, they need to be treated; especially we don't want to miss a possible malignancy.

Doctors, may you give me names of fibroids anti-tumour foods or foods that can help shrink tumors? And why is estrogen high on monthly periods? Thanks

Fruit & Veggies: Colorful fruit and veggies are rich in flavonoids which block an important enzyme in estrogen biosynthesis. Even if you're a strict vegan its hard to avoid the hormones in the food supply. Trying to be as close to your ideal weight (cut excess body fat), exercise, and eat healthy (fruits & veggies, limit meat/dairy) will help your fibroid situation alot (and will improve your overall health too!

Is there anything I can take to shrink fibroids?

Is there anything I can take to shrink fibroids?

Not OTC: Unfortunately no. There are no over the counter remedies to shrink fibroids. Removal still requires surgery and the only way to shrink them (temporarily) are with gnrh agonists (lupron injections, synarel nasal spray) or with embolization therapy (blocking blood vessels to fibroids with beads, done via catheters by radiologist). Menopause will also cause them to shrink but you have quite a wait.

Are there any non surgical ways to shrink fibroids?

Are there any non surgical ways to shrink fibroids?

Absolutely: Most patients with fibroids need no treatment. When the fibroids cause symptoms such as heavy bleeding, severe pain or pressure, or changes in bowel and bladder it is time to seek some treatment. Surgery, is the most common choice but pseudo-surgical options such as uterine artery embolization, focused mri-ultrasound beam, cryotherapy or radio frequency can help. Iud, pills, and injections help.

How can you shrink fibroids without surgery?

How can you shrink fibroids without surgery?

Various: There is no medication to help fibroids shrink permanently. Medications like lupron, (leuprolide) depoprovera, etc may temporarily shrink the masses but their action is time limited. The only way to completely remove them is surgery. However, there are ways to destroy them without surgery as well. These include uterine artery embolization, ultrasound destruction, hysteroscopy if in the cavity.

How long does it take fibroid to shrink after menopause?

How long does it take fibroid to shrink after menopause?

Variable: Reduction in size for fibroids is desirable although that is not the basis for treatment. Symptoms are why someone with fibroids is treated. The most common symptoms with fibroids are heavy bleeding, pelvic pain, and increased urinary frequency. If you're post-menopausal, bleeding no longer an issue. Other 2 should start to go away over time; if not you could consider uterine fibroid embolization.

Does diet affect fibroids? Is it possible to reduce the size by the foods we eat? Does stress cause them to grow?

Does diet affect fibroids? Is it possible to reduce the size by the foods we eat? Does stress cause them to grow?

Yes, yes and yes: Fibroids are a result of high estrogen levels. High estrogen can be caused by excessive carbohydrate intake (via competetive inhibition of glucoronidase enzyme) therefore a low carb diet is beneficial to reduce estrogen and help shrink fibroids. You may also have low iodine, thyroid problems, low progesterone. All of these things should be evaluated. All phytoestrogens should be avoided.

Hi. I have anterior, subserosal fibroid 5.8 cms. I'm 50 years old perimenopausal. Will it shrink later on or shud I hv it removed? Ty

Will shrink: Fibroids usually shrink in size after menopause. If you do not have other symptoms related to the fibroids you do not need to have these removed. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
